I pick up my book-bag from the floor and put one strap over my shoulder. I'm just about to open my bedroom door and walk out when my phone dings in my pocket. I pull it out and get stunned by the name on my screen. It's Luke.

I read the text about 3 times. Wonder why he needs a ride to school? Luke has one of the nicest trucks I've ever seen. Maybe it's in the shop getting an oil changed or something.

I hit send then shove my phone back in my pocket. I open my bedroom door and walk out.

I pull in Luke's driveway, put my car in park and wait. About 2 minutes later, my passenger door opens and Luke gets in.

"What's up." I mutter then put the car in reverse.

Luke puts his bag on the floor in front of him then he puts his seatbelt on. "Sorry about this, man. My truck is in the shop and Tawny said she was skipping first period and the other guys don't have cars, besides Kain." Luke explains but I shake my head.

I keep my gaze focused on the road. "No, it's not a problem. Who's Tawny?" I question.

"She's my girlfriend." Luke answers with a stifled smile.

"Cool." I nod. It's cool that Luke has a girlfriend. Out of Kain's group of friends, I always knew Luke would get a girlfriend first. The way Luke said Kain's name is suspicious. He said it with attitude. "Kain wouldn't give you a ride to school?"

Luke looks out the passenger window and I feel the air in the car change. Uh-oh. Something happened. "I, uh... I didn't ask him. He..." Luke clears his throat. "He's the reason why my truck is in the shop."

Great. I don't even know if I want to know what he did but I ask anyway. "What'd he do?"

Silence floats around us for a while before Luke answers. "He slashed my tries and busted my window." Luke says as if it pains him to say it.

I nearly slam on my breaks at his words. Kain did what?! What the hell.

"No way. How do you know it was him?" I'm still reeling at what Luke said. That's so messed up.
