Ember and I have been sitting here for about an hour. Neither of us have really said anything. I keep checking her leg every couple of minutes and the more I check Ember's leg, the more I realize we have to get out of here and fast. Ember's leg is still oozing out blood and within the last 10 or so minutes, she has lost consciousness twice.
I haven't heard any gunshots lately but I know he's still out here, the guy is already in this deep, he won't back down until he's happy or finished with whatever he came to accomplish.
My mind wonders to Kain, I hope he's okay and he found Ayla and they're unharmed and somewhere safe. Speaking of which, I should text Kain and see how he's doing. I glance at Ember while I take out my phone, she's looking at the wall ahead of us. I quickly unlock my phone and bring up mine and Kain's conversation.

I don't mean to ask so many questions, I'd rather ask all the questions in one text then spend time texting back and forth. I deleted, typed, deleted, typed, deleted and typed about 5 times. A couple minutes later, Kain finally messages me back.

And that's all I get out of him. I try texting him more but he doesn't reply back. I don't know if I should take that as a sign to be nervous or not. I hope I didn't screw things up for Kain and he's purposefully choosing not to text me back.
I don't get lost in my head long because, all of a sudden, I feel something on my right shoulder. I look to my right and see that Ember's head has fallen and she's laying her head on my shoulder.
Ember has already lost consciousness today but just for a second. Her head would fall to the side, like, you know when you sleep sitting up and your head falls. She'd pick her head up, readjust her sitting position and I'd know she's awake and conscious, but her head has never been this slumped, so that's alarming.
