Honesty

Early morning,Bongbong went to Leni's house to fetch her and drive her to school. He was warmly welcomed by her Mom and actually offered him a breakfast.

"Leni,anak bilis kana dyan at nandito na si Bongbong." Sally informed Leni.

"Si Bongbong? Bakit daw po siya nandito Mommy?" Leni asked curiously while getting her bag and books 📚

"He'll be driving you daw to school. Bilisan mo na dyan at baka malate kayo." Sally replied.

Leni went down from her room and was surprised by his presence. "Ang aga mo naman."

He smiled. "Tara na?"

The ride was quiet. He didn't know how to start a conversation with her but the main reason why he fetch her is to make it up to her. She was quietly looking at the road,"bumabawi yata!" She thought as she was surprised to seem him early in the morning. She knew it was his way of saying sorry for lying 🤥 to her.

He pulled over as they've reached the campus. She handed him her helmet but he suddenly grabbed her wrist. She gasped.

"Usap tayo." He uttered bringing her to one corner.

"Bong,ano ba! Baka malate ako! Bitiwan mo ko!" She complained.

"Sabihin mo nga,nagseselos kaba?" He asked straightforwardly.

She frowned. "Excuse me! Ako? Nagseselos ako? Hindi noh! At bakit naman?!"

"Kasi nag-uusap kami ni Louise." He uttered confidently.

She laughed sarcastically. "Pwede ba,Bong! Huwag ka ngang patawa! Akala ko ba nagkaintindihan na tayo na wala lang saakin yun. Okay lang yun,wala namang masama kung nag-uusap kayo o kahit maging kayo ulit. Hindi naman tayo so bakit ako magseselos?" She refuted.

"Eh bakit hindi hindi ka sumasagot sa mga tawag at texts ko?" He frowned.

"Kasi nga natulog ako ng maaga kagabi!" She defended.

"Natulog" he snorted. "Eh sabi ng Mommy mo late kana daw natulog kagabi. Ang sabihin mo nagseselos ka kay Louise,you started acting like this nung nalaman mong nag-uusap kami."

"Hindi nga ako nagseselos! Ang kulit mo naman eh! Pwede ba,Bong! Ang aga-aga para sa away na ganito!" She exclaimed and leave him behind.

Bongbong waited again for her outside of her classroom then proceeded at the cafeteria. They were all in silence while consuming their lunch,it was totally different from their previous lunches together. Their friends looked at each other as they noticed that Bongbong and Leni are not talking to each other.

Risa cleared her throat as she tried to break the silence. "Uy,Win sabi mo walang ketchup? Ayon oh!"

"Ano ba naman to! Kumuha kana lang! Mang-uutos kapa eh!" Win rolled his eyes.

"Ewan ko sa'yo! Tamad ka talaga! Sinungaling pa!" Risa retorted. They all laughed.

"Ikaw kasi Win eh. Huwag ka kasing SINUNGALING! Huwag kanang gumaya sa IBA DIYAN!" Leni joked but it came to them like it was sort of sarcasm. "Naku! Kayong mga lalaki talaga,ang hilig magsinungaling!" She followed.It hinted them.

"Hindi naman sa nagsisinungaling." Bongbong interjected. They all looked at him. "Minsan kasi ayaw nalang namin sabihin sainyong mga babae kasi para saamin wala lang yon. Kayo kasi ang hilig nyong mag-over react."

Leni snorted,they turned their eyes on her. "Eh panong hindi kami mag-oover react eh may mga ginagawa kayong kalokohan behind our backs? Kung para sainyo wala lang yun,pwes para saamin malaking bagay yun! Trust yun! Kayo kasi kung hindi pa MAHULI, hindi pa magsasabi ng totoo!"

"Nagsasabi naman nang totoo ha!" He refuted,they looked at him again. "Ang mahirap kasi sainyo,ayaw nyong maniwala! Sinabi na ngang wala namang ginawang masama,ayaw nyo makinig. Kapag kami nageexplain sasabhin nyo, no,it's fine. You don't need to explain, pero after hindi na kayo sumasagot sa mga texts at tawag namin. Kapag tinatanong kayo kung anong problema,sasabhin nyo wala. Ang gulo nyo!"

"Kasi nga mga insensitive kayo!" Leni contradicts gaining the attention of their friends again. "Dapat alam nyo nang hindi kami okay or may something wrong! Read between the lines kasi! Ang problema kasi sainyo,kayo na nga ang may kasalanan,kayo pa tong galit! Hindi man lang kayo mag-effort!"

"Nag-" Bongbong was about to say something but he was interrupted by their friends.

"Uy! Uy! Tama na yan!" Migz inserted. "Huwag naman kayong mag-away dito,para ketchup lang eh."

"Sus! Eh parang hindi na tungkol sa ketchup yan eh! Alam nyo kayong dalawa kung may problema kayo pag-usapan nyo." Grace suggested.

"Oo nga. Try nyo mag-usap. Pero yung usap na pareho kayo kalmado ha! Baka naman magsigawan na naman kayo!" Risa supported.

"Hindi yung nagpaparinigan kayong dalawa. Alam nyo para kayong mga bata!" Win stated. Bongbong and Leni bowed and turned quiet.

After Bongbong was being admonished by his friends,he courageously waited Leni outside her classroom to drive her home and finally talked to her calmly.

She was actually surprised by his presence,she thought he wouldn't bother to drive her home because of what happened earlier at the cafeteria. She wanted to talk to him too as advised by her friends so she willingly let him to drive her home.

It was a quiet ride,neither of them wanted to initiate the talk until they arrived at her house.

"Leni-"
"Bong-" They uttered simultaneously.

"Ah. Sige na,ikaw na." He conceded.

"Hindi. Sige na,ikaw na muna. Okay lang." She replied.

He nodded. "Uhm. I just wanted to apologize about what happened earlier... And yung kay... Louise. I'm sorry."

She sighed. "It's okay. Actually,I wanted to apologize din for what happened earlier... Pasensya kana,hindi ko lang napigilan. Ang totoo nyan,naiinis ako sa'yo kasi nagsinungaling ka."

He looked at her sincerely. "I'm sorry,Leni. Hiding things from you was never my intention,I'm sorry. It won't happen again. From now on, I promise that I will never lie to you again,please,forgive me... Trust me..."

She looked at his eyes and felt the sincerity. "I trust you,Bong." She uttered softly.

He smiled and hugged her tightly. "Thank you." He whispered.

She withdrew from the hug and hold his gaze, "And I promise also that I will not hide things from you. Gusto ko kasi honest tayo sa isa't-isa."

He nodded. "Magiging honest tayo sa isa't-isa,I promise you that."

She smiled and hugged him. "Thank you."

He kissed her temple. "Thank you,Mahal."
