Aly's POV
Today is my sixteenth week check-up. I have an appointment at 2 this afternoon. Joe is really excited, hoping we might get to see the sex of our baby.
We arrived at the doctors' office right on time for our apartment.
"Alyson Sugg," the nurse called about five minutes after we signed in.
"I'm so excited!" Joe whispered as we got up.
The nurse took my height and weight, as usual. Then she guided us into the ultrasound room.
"Ok, Alyson, go ahead and lay right here," She said motioning to the bed, "And, Mr. Sugg, you can pull up a chair if you'd like."
Joe pulled up a chair and sat next to me, holding my hair.
"Ok, so how far along are you?" The nurse asked.
"Sixteen weeks."
"Ok, so, if your baby is in the right position, we can see his or her sex, if you're wanting to."
"Yes please." I said squeezing Joe's hand.
The nurse had me lay down, pull up my top and slightly down my pants. Then she squeezed the clear gel onto my stomach and turned on the screen and started the ultrasound. Pushing the gel around, a picture popped up on the screen.
"Hear that?" The nurse asked, "That's its heartbeat."
"Wow," Joe said.
"Okay... So your baby is in the perfect position for its age and so we can tell its sex."
"Yay!" I giggled excitedly.
"Ok, your baby is a little boy!"
"A boy!" Joe cheered.
"Yes, I'll take some ultrasound pictures and we'll print them off for you, would you like a disc of the heartbeat?"
"Sure!" I answered.
The nurse then gave me some tips.
"Ok, so this next couple of weeks, your baby boy will grow a lot, so don't be worried about gaining weight. Just eat healthy and do moderated exercises and you'll be just fine. Also, if you want some time away, now would be the chance. The next trimester will be the hardest and then your baby will be born. So time away to relax will not only be beneficial for you but it reduces stress with the baby too."
"Ok, we might just have to do that," Joe said smiling.
"Ok, well here is your pictures and the disc. We'll see you again in another four to six weeks."
After that, Joe and I made another appointment and them we drove home.
"Where should we go for a weekend?" Joe asked on the way home.
"Hmm, wherever!"
"I'll have a look online for hotels and what-not and we'll decide from there."
"Ok babe!"
We got home and Joe got on the computer. Since it's Thursday we would probably leave tomorrow and get back on Sunday.
