Min Yoongi.

The name alone was enough to make thousands of people go into frenzy.

Honestly, sometimes Yoongi really couldn’t understand the hype.

He was just doing what he loved – music.

So yeah, he was making some good music-

Okay, some really good music.

But even after all these years, he still had it hard to believe that he had come so far. He still couldn’t believe that hundreds and hundreds of people lined up to get his albums or camped in front of the concert halls just so they could get better seats for his concerts. It still felt surreal when he released a new song and it instantly topped the charts, he also felt weird whenever he received praises, be it from seniors, his friends or others in the industry.

It’s been six years since he made his debut and the beginning… oh, it was the definition of hell.

Creating music was Yoongi’s biggest dream and performing as an underground rapper at small venues, late at night, it wasn’t the best, but at least it was something. But as time passed, he got greedy, it just wasn’t enough. The thrill of going on stage was always present, but he just started craving for more. That’s why one day, he decided to give up the little fame he had in the underground scene and go big.

He wasn’t a fool, he knew it would be hard. He knew he would have to start from the bottom and he was aware of the fact that nobody was going to have his back, he had to do this all on his own.

South Korea wanted pretty faces, lovely voices, a perfect attitude.

Yoongi could offer anything, but those.

He wasn’t ugly, but he wasn’t exactly a beauty as people would say.

He sounded like a dying goat when he tried to sing. Well, it wasn’t that bad. His whispering kind of singing was rather pleasant, the fans really liked it and wanted to hear it more often, but he was a rapper. His voice was deeper and huskier, he had never had the urge to be a good singer, he just wanted to rap, so he focused on that.

His attitude… he wasn’t rude or ignorant, but he wasn’t the type to keep his mouth shut either. He always talked back and he often made haters know their place by releasing a diss song. He rarely smiled unless he really found something funny. Otherwise, what was the point? Why should he fake smiles? So what if he looked a bit grumpy? So what if he cussed from time to time? Alright, alright. He did it daily, but he never offended his staff. He respected the people who worked with him, because he knew he could be rather bitchy at times, especially in the morning, but everyone around him put up with his temper and he was grateful for that although he didn’t express it with words, he was terrible at expressing his emotions. But those who joined his team, remained and quit only for a solid reason: marriage, pregnancy, moving to another city. Yoongi’s attitude was never the reason, most of the staff members told him he was a really cool guy and that they liked him the way he was, there was no need to pretend around them.

But when he was on stage… it was a different matter. He was often tired, but he always tried to appear confident whenever he was performing when in fact he always doubted whether the public will like his new tracks or not. The response was always good, but Yoongi paid more heed to the negativity.

He was aware of how stupid that was, because he knew couldn’t please everyone.

There were so many people who screamed in joy whenever he stepped onto the stage, there were so many who loved him, for his music, the music that was his life. His lyrics were straightforward, today’s society wasn’t used to such truthful and always blunt lyrics which perfectly depicted the reality, they were always on point. But this was who Min Yoongi was, he didn’t hold back, he rapped with all his heart, he poured his soul into the music he made and the fact that he had so many fans made him keep going, it made him believe that he was on the right track.
