I used the present tense in the past chapters, but so many people write in the past tense. I felt like I did something wrong so this chapter is in the past tense, just to see how it writes and reads.

Spoiler, this isn't going to happen again in the near future, I believe. It was a hell, I had to keep correcting myself...XD

I looked it up, I can use the present tense too (without felling bad), it's getting more and more popular ;)

I'm still going to post it because the time I put into it is insane, lol.

Happy reading!

I walked through the pitlane when I locked eyes again with Nico. He smiled to me, I smiled back. I think even a soft 'Hi' slipped my lips. We walked right past each other, but then I heard his footsteps stop. I knew he stopped and he knew I knew. I stopped my pace too.

"How are you?" I said, turning around.

"Fine, you?" He scratched the back of his neck

"Good, good." There is a long awkward silence between us. While the world lives on, our time has stopped.

"Hey look, I'm sorry of what my friend did-"

"It's no problem." He cutted me off, his soft smile could cure my life. "You couldn't have known."

"Yeah, I didn't but I should've."

"I can still see her walking right here." He looked around the pit lane, clearly missing his ex. "We've been together for so long."

"Sometimes memories are torture."

"But we can't help ourselves." He sighed, looking back at me.

"No, we can't." I whispered. Nico looked at the ground, then up to my eyes again. "Why are you still here?"

"I love Formula 1 more than staying with my manipulative best friend." He chuckled at my comment.

"You're better than her, she only cared about our looks." He spoke up after a small, comfortable silence.

"She did." I agreed, she only cared about status. "Honestly I'm happy she's out of my life now."

"She went after Charles, right in front of my face."

"Really?" I gasped in disbelieve.

"Yeah, I told her I knew and she manipulated me again." He fidgeted with his hands. "I didn't even know back then, everything's so clear now."

"Memories hurt."

"Like hell, honestly."

"She only cared about looks, she's not even good looking herself." I laughed, I felt my face getting smilier. "She looks like an actual potato."

"Why are you roasting your own friend?" He laughed, covering his mouth.

"I left her after I knew she hurted you."

"Why?"

"Because, I like you better."
