"Don't scream."

"I won't." At that moment I pulled the stake from its place completely and dodged the creature's hand. It immediately looked at the stake and panic filled its eyes. I watched it back away only to lunge at me, face full vampire mode. Mistake. I thrusted my hand forwards, the wood giving me a tiny splinter but my body felt like it was just given 1000 candies and ate them all at the same time as drinking coffee. The energy was radiating from my tattoo, which was previously throbbing. The creature let out a loud howl when the stake punctured its skin and it shook a terrifying vibration until its black eyes turned completely white. It began to turn to ash and the smell filled my nostrils making me gag. My tattoo rewarded me but my senses punished me. Humans were never supposed to kill vampires. It's 'against the rules of nature' because they're predators and we're prey. Although, that made no sense. Lions are predators but we can still kill them easy enough. Finally, the creature was barely even a pile of ash against the hard cold ground. The wind blew past me, scattering the ash every which way. It felt like a representation of how I felt about it all. Poetic. For whatever reason, my tattoo still burned as if there was a vampire near. In fact, it was molten rock pouring throughout my body quicker and quicker. I chanted a few words quietly to myself, a wooden stake manifested in my palm. A low growl sounded from far away before the swift movement of a running vampire, or maybe even two, lead away from me. My tattoo cooled down and my body returned to its usual state. I was a normal girl, weak and slow in a slightly rougher neighbourhood despite the vampires. The wooden stick promptly disappeared with my transformation and my nerves started to kick in. You know, that paranoid feeling of someone watching you. Only a human threat could be looking at me, in which case would make my life easier. I could spray them in the face and run. My ankle boots made quiet clatters on the concrete as I continued on my way. I had a busy night planned and a few vampires or idiotic humans weren't going to stop me.
