I said nothing as I walked across my apartment, sliding open the glass door but staying on the inside rather than stepping out to the balcony. Colby didn't turn to look at me, either. He kept staring. "Something's happening." He said quietly. I stared at him, transfixed by the vampire. My hand urged to reach out to him again. "And I don't understand it but I'm drawn to you." He continued speaking. "When you're around, I keep looking at you and then when you're not, I can't stop thinking about you." He lowered his head to rest on his hands.

"My tattoo." I started. "It tingles when there's a vampire close by and burns when they're really really close to me. Even worse if they're touching me. It was put there to make us hunters want, need to kill the vampires to stop the pain." I explained. My heart was beating so fast I thought my chest wouldn't be able to contain it. "But around you, it flutters. It flutters like my stomach does around a cute guy or when I'm really nervous. I don't know why you're special but it urges me to be around you" I told him. He turned around to look at me, completely human except for that blue ring that looked like it was going crazy, expanding and contracting. He stared into my eyes.

"What's happening to us?"

"I don't know." My voice came out as a whisper. Colby placed his hand against the threshold of my place, which glowed a white energy. "I feel the need to trust you." I admitted. His eyes had me mesmerised on their own, ignoring how handsome he was.

"I feel the same." He paused and sighed. "We're natural enemies. This shouldn't be so..."

"Easy to accept?" He nodded at my choice of words. I placed my hand against his and intertwined our fingers. "Come in." When I pulled his hand towards me, it came through the threshold easily. Shocked, he stepped inside.

"That was probably really dumb." He was still staring into my eyes. I shrugged and moved closer to him.

"Anything to stop this feeling in my tattoo." His arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me impossibly close to him considering he was a vampire. I could see his face changing ever so slightly then going back to human again.

"Your scent..." he gulped deep in his throat. "It's intoxicating." With a deep breath, his face changed to vampire form. It honestly made me way more 'excited' than I thought it would. In the midst of the serious moment, he seemed to smile, his fangs showing through just a bit. "Why aren't you staking me?"

"Because I physically can't." My hands rested upon his chest and slowly slid up to his neck. His face immediately changed back to human form. "Besides, I know you have enough control not to bite me." I came up close to his face.

"But what if I don't?" He sounded scared almost. His voice rang of nerves.

"You do." Our noses touched we were so close. "I know it." He leaned in and that was it for me. I tangled my fingers in his hair to pull him and keep him close. Our lips connected, my stomach filling with butterflies and my skin tingling wherever it touched his.
