I brushed my hair through my fingers as Colby continued talking to his friends. I hadn't been the most active, tired and kinda getting hungry. I found myself looking at the females of the group, all human except for Jade and Cathy though they're technically human. I growl now. I'm far from human. My tattoo got that horrible painful feeling, my head turning towards the garage door. I was around the guys at the house so much that the tattoo didn't really respond to them anymore, just a little discomfort. I flicked my ears out to listen. A vampire was on the driveway pacing. Of course, the vampires in the room also heard it. Colby quickly placed me on the beanbag and he and Elton, along with Mike and Corey, disappeared out the garage door. "I so wish I had super hearing." Jade complained, trying to listen to what was happening.
"Edward." Colby said to the person out on the drive. I accidentally let a low growl slip out of my mouth. He had the audacity to FOLLOW me?! I'm gonna kill him, stake him, whatever.
"Hello again, Colby." The way Edward spoke reminded me of very olden times. I could imagine him bowing out of chivalry and respect.
"What's going on?" Kat whispered to me, leaning away from Sam knowing he wouldn't tell her.
"It's Edward. He warned me about the whole old vampires coming after me thing." I whispered back to her, sending her a little smile. She nodded appreciatively and leaned back on Sam. I stood up to go out to the driveway.
"I wouldn't." Sam said quickly. I turned immediately, growling at him and narrowing my eyes.
"You don't tell me what to do." With that, I walked through the garage door and the kitchen. The whole time, my ears were picking up random words such as 'danger' and 'protection'. I opened the front door, the wood hitting the wall with a little thump.
"Vanessa!" Edward exclaimed with a large smile on his face. He looked cocky and like he was in an annoying mood. "Fancy seeing you here." I glared at him as Colby sped over to me, standing by my side protectively But kind of casually too.
"What are you doing here, Edward?" I asked him as politely as I could. I didn't want to offend the guy. He's old and wise, after all, but I certainly wasn't planning on flattering him. He smiled still, taking a small step forwards.
"I'd like to make a deal." He told me. "I have grown... fond of your clan here and would like to help protect it. That's if the older vampires were to decided to attack you, of course." I glanced up at Colby to see his face was mostly vampire, a defence mechanism. I narrowed my eyes at Edward.
"And in return?" I questioned. I dreaded to hear the answer. Edward's eyes flicked to my still wolf ears then he smirked a little.
"I want the same thing in return. Protection. Or at least, somewhere I could go in a time of need."
