"Sweetheart, there's a vampire nearby!" My mother shrieked out worriedly, looking all around my apartment and beginning to leave the room. I glanced at my balcony worriedly just as the fluttery feeling in my tattoo disappeared. My father, seemingly realising it was no longer here, relaxed.
"It's okay, my dear." My father placed his hand on my mother's shoulder, kissing her head sweetly. "It's gone." I felt disappointed that Colby wasn't around anymore. Maybe he'd stuck nearby but nevertheless, I already craved for him back. "Did you know?"
"Yes but it can't get in." I replied casually, closing the pizza box and throwing it into the trash. My father gave me a look as if I were crazy.
"Kill the damn thing!" He sat down angrily on my couch with a frown on his face. My mother followed his lead looking a little kinder.
"I haven't had a chance. It leaves when I'm not home or when I leave." I sat on my other couch, staring at them incredulously. They'd stormed in yelling vampire then scolded me for not killing it? "Plus, I wasn't long planning to sleep." I lied.
"We don't care, Ness." My mother narrowed her eyes, shuffling to be more comfortable. "That thing has to be killed before it tries to kill you." I had to fight my urge to roll my eyes.
"I'm working on it. I've stalked its clan for a while now. I know what I'm doing." My parents stared at me for a moment then they both nodded and turned into their completely relaxed versions of themselves.
"I'm going to assume that it's what I was worried about all night?" My father questioned me as he laid his head back onto the couch. I was pissed because they'd ruined my otherwise petty good night.
"I assume so." I sent them a little fake smile and glanced out the glass doors at the little section of the view I could see. I wondered how far away Colby had gone. "Is that the only reason you're here?" My voice went quieter, calmer. The moment they left, I'd be trying to get Colby to come back again... somehow.
"Um, mostly. We were also hoping you'd like to spend some time with us but I see you're clearly quite tired. Long night of hunting?" My father grinned at me. Just yesterday, I'd completely agree with them that every one of those creatures are disgusting but even my tattoo disagreed when it came to Colby.
"Yes, very." I sent them another fake smile, standing up and adding an extra yawn just to sell it. My mother smiled sympathetically and joined me, pulling me in for a hug and then looking back to my father.
"We'll leave you to it then." My parents left the apartment without another word and it felt like forever before I felt a gentle breeze go past me and my tattoo start to flutter.
