I was back sitting on Colby's lap on the beanbag while the other vampires looked at Edward. He'd been out cold for what had to be way too long even after there was no wood in his system. We were beginning to question if he would even wake up at all when Jake sped to the back of the room. My head snapped in his direction to see him staring at the floor. There was Edward moving his arm ever so slightly upwards. His fingers were twitching and his eyes were fluttering. I watched the vampire's skin go to the usual pale colour rather than grey and finally, his eyes opened. I noticed his nostrils flaring as he slowly sat up. Everyone's eyes were on him but he only looked at me. No, specifically at my neck. "Remove. The. Human. Or I swear I'l-" before he could finish his sentence, Colby's arms, which were already around me, tightened and I felt the breeze as I was sped out of the room. I blinked to be in Colby's bedroom.

"No way am I sitting this out!" I said angrily, stepping away from Colby. He stared at me, his eyes trying to stay in control.

"It's not your choice." Then Colby was gone. I growled, a sound that almost sounded like a roar. My ears flicked out and so did my teeth, cutting my tongue ever so slightly but not enough to draw blood.

"Thank you. I am not very well in control at this moment." Edward's voice spoke rather loudly, like he wanted me to hear him. He knew I could if I wanted to.

"Well you won't be alive if you touch her." Sam replied. He sounded pissed and strangely protective over me. Today's been weird with the guys. I didn't know I'd earned some kind of vampire protection from every single one of the clan.

"I understand what you'd all do for her." Edward seemed to get up and go somewhere else in the room. How the fuck do I get down there to see this shit? Damn you, Colby. I walked to the door, turning the knob as quietly as I could. "Do not come down here, child." Edward said with a gentle tone to his voice, which was otherwise coarse. "I know you can hear me."

"No one tells me what to do." I swung the door open and walked towards the stairs. Of course, I knew I wouldn't get there all the way but I could try. Colby appeared in front of me and reached out, grabbing my hips to pull me close. It caught me off guard.

"Be a hunter, Ness. At least make it easier for him if you're going to be stubborn." I raised an eyebrow playfully, the corner of my lips twitching up. My ears flicked back down and I became a hunter instead. Colby took one little whiff of the air and nodded, wrapping his arms around my waist. Next thing I knew, we were in the garage.
