"Cacciatrice!" I yelled, feeling my huntress powers falling over me. Now my tattoo burned with the realisation that the thing in front of me was a vampire. A stake appeared in my hand along with the transformation. Jade did the same next to me.
"Ness, no!" Cathy threw herself at me, pushing me back into Jade so that I wasn't close enough to kill the creature. "He's not a threat to me." I simply pushed her out of the way and stormed forwards. It hissed at me when it saw the stake and... backed away?
"Are you insane?" Jade yelled at her. She just rolled her eyes, taking a deep breath to explain herself.
"It's him, Mike." She said. "The one I'm happy with." She added to try to jog our memories. It's the one who got her kicked out of the clan for having certain relations with her. The horrid creature.
"It got you kicked out of the clan! And we both know how painful that is! Why haven't you killed it?" Jade growled at her angrily. I hadn't moved from my defensive stance. The leech stood up properly from the wall it'd backed into, all traces of vampirism gone except for the blue ring that never disappeared.
"You said it doesn't hurt." It frowned at my best friend, all of its focus on her. I was ready to pounce at any moment's notice. My tattoo certainly was.
"I know. I didn't want you to worry." Cathy turned completely to the thing and stepped up close to it, her hands on its chest. It looked right back down at her and wrapped its arms around her waist.
"Don't you tou-" I stopped talking when it's head dropped down to her shoulder, dangerously close to her neck. Surprisingly, it didn't bite her or harm her, they just stood there for a moment. Jade and I exchanged a glance.
"He isn't a threat." Cathy repeated, pulling away from the bloodsucker across the room from us.
"I wouldn't hurt her." It said to us. My tattoo still burned at its presence like it would with any other monster.
"Cathy..." Jade mumbled. She took a few steps forward. With each, she changed back to completely human. I could tell because her skin looked pinker, more human. Even hunters went pale when they were transformed. It was so our blood was harder to smell. "That thing doesn't come near me but I know I can trust you." My head felt like it was about to explode. What is even happening right now?
"Thank you, Jade." Cathy pulled her that little bit closer by her hand before they both looked to me. "Ness?"
"You're insane." I turned quickly to leave, returning to human form. Before I could get to the door, though, a tall figure got in my way. I looked up at the brown eyes obscured by the blue ring.
"She's not insane. I've only ever killed one person before and that was during an accident in a car before I even turned." It told me, taking some steps forward. I didn't move, just stared into its eyes angrily. "I should have died that day but my creator turned me."
"You should have died." I said bluntly and pushed past it, slamming the front door behind myself.
