I was actually quite happy, smiling, at the end of the night. It was starting to get light outside, nearly six am, when Jade and I decided to leave. Apparently, Cathy was going back to Mike's place. Ever since Colby had gone, my tattoo had burned like lava because of all of the vampires I was with. I was one hundred percent positive it fluttered only around him. I drove back to Jade and I's apartment building, reluctant to have to drive but whatever. She couldn't because she was basically asleep. "Jade." I said as I turned off the engine. She didn't reply so I looked over at her. "Jade." I repeated more forcefully. I sighed and got out of the car, walking around to the door she was leaning on and opening it. If it weren't for the seatbelt, she would have fell out all the way but instead she hung for a second.
"Vanessa!" She yelled at me, sitting up straight. I laughed and backed away from the car so she couldn't hit me. She undid her seatbelt, getting out to lunge at me. I just ran away a little.
"I'm sorry! You wouldn't wake up normally." I replied still laughing. Jade rolled her eyes, slamming shut the car door. I could lock it from where I was so I ran into the elevator forcing her to do the same otherwise she'd be left in the garage.
"You could be nicer about it." She scolded, pressing our floor. I gave her a look that made her slowly smile right back at me.
"Come on, you have to wake up a bit! It's only six!"
"I know! I haven't even had dinner yet." Jade stretched out, her fingers reaching towards the ceiling. I could practically hear her back cracking. When we got up to the floor, I felt my tattoo start to flutter. What the fuck? Colby can't be here... right? His car certainly wasn't in the garage and he'd left in his car earlier. "You good?" Jade suddenly asked. She was already off of the elevator, just waiting for me in the hallway.
"Yeah, sorry." I gave her a smile and followed her. Her apartment was closer than mine. "Have a good sleep, Jade." She nodded and continued to open her door as I continued down the hallway. My apartment door seemed so close and with each step, my tattoo was fluttering more and more. My heartbeat was picking up too. Eventually, I found my keys in my pocket and pushed it into the lock, turning it to hear the small click. Down the hall, Jade's door shut. I took a deep breath as I pushed the door open. There, all the way across the room, was Colby stood on the balcony. He was facing away, looking out at the LA view.
