Vampire Hunter // Colby Brock

~ Part 88 ~

Colby and I had spent a few days just to ourselves at my apartment and it's been pretty great. Mike visited Cathy once or twice which was the only night we saw other people. Jade and Cathy had come over with Mike for a while. But the time together had to come to an end at some point. And that was when there was a knock at the door. And we both knew exactly who it was. I walked to my front door and reluctantly opened it to see the old-timey Edward. He gave me a sad, hurt smile and bowed. "Vanessa. I think it's time we all have a meeting, wouldn't you say?" A gentle breeze came past me and Colby appeared by my side.

"Yes, I agree. But not here. The only vampire coming in this apartment is Colby." My voice sounded rude and annoyed but I didn't care. I grabbed my handbag, which I'd already prepared, and nodded at Colby.

"Keep up." He said with a smirk as he wrapped his arms around me and stared speeding away. I could feel that Edward was running with us. It was a lot of vampire speed for me, making me dizzy when we stopped. I didn't even know where we were. I played off my weakness by leaning against Colby. In front of me was a large clearing with trees surrounding us as well as seven vampires, two hunters, and three human girls. The girls were off to the side on camp chairs while the others were huddled in the middle having a conversation. They all stopped and turned to us. "Jade, did you work out what's happening with the other thing?" Colby asked my best friend. I looked between them, confused.

"Yes and they're coming but later. They don't want to be around you all too much, it'll be painful for them." Colby simply nodded and looked over at Edward to take the stage. He walked forwards toward the clan of vampires.

"Old vampires fight in a very different way to you young ones." He explained as he stood tall and proud. "They use more techniques and have old-fashioned skills such as sword fighting."

"Are you suggesting that one of them will bring a sword?" Elton asked incredulously. He stared at the old vampire with a slightly shocked expression. Edward let out a chesty laugh and shook his head.

"No, Elton. I'm suggesting that they'll be more skilled than you. And they're older, that gives them an advantage over some here." He glanced at Colby, the strongest of the clan, then back to the others. "However we do have something they don't. We have a Shifter." Edward's bright smile now landed on me. I'd mostly regained my balance so I stepped forward a notch. "You can use your forms against them. For example, your wolf form has a higher speed and strength but your hunter form has even more strength but less speed. This means you could run up quickly, change, and stab or generally attack." Edward explained expertly. I felt like I could already do it. "I'm sure you've already noticed that you don't have to say any words anymore. Your Cacciatrice, Strega, and Lupa forms come natural."
