Okay, fine, I caved a little. I agreed to hang out with the three of them for a little while to see what Mike was really like. And in all honesty, he was funny and kind to me, despite the hard time I'd given him up until that point. Never mind the whole monster thing. "Why don't we go to my friend's place?" He suggested with his wide smile on his face, all of us coming down form the high of laughing at a joke. Cathy's face went immediately serious, shaking her head.
"Your friend's place?" Jade questioned. Her smile had died down a little too at the thought.
"Yeah, you could meet some other good vampires. We're not all predators, you see. I c-"
"No." My voice went monotone, my face deadpan with seriousness. "You really think I'm going to go to a house full of vampires so that you two can prove a point?" I flicked my gaze between Mike and Cathy with disapproval.
"It'd be a brilliant end to the night." Cathy grinned having turned on his side in seconds. I glared at her for a moment then looked to Jade. Her face was curious, uncertain.
"Maybe it would be?" She spoke her thoughts out loud, looking at Cathy nervously. My best friends were sharing a conversation with their eyes and I felt left out.
"But a HOUSE full of vampires." I repeated. "Think about what we're doing, who we are. My tattoo is still tingling even after nearly an hour of being around you. I dread to think what it'll be like in a HOUSE." Jade smiled and rolled her eyes suddenly, leaping up from her seat and taking my hand, pulling me towards the front door.
"We're going." Just moments later, we were headed down to the parking garage to get our cars. What the hell is even going on right now? This night started with me killing a vampire then Cathy getting banished then us meeting Mike, her boyfriend and the one she's been sleeping with - who IS a vampire, and then we're on our way to a house full of vampires. Why am I doing this? I sat in the passenger seat of Jade's car since she'd insisted that I wouldn't keep on to the house if I had drove. And that's true, I wouldn't have. Never had plans to. LA passed us by outside quick as if none of it even mattered. As if the people we were passing, probably hundreds per apartment building, were nothing but pawns in the vampire/hunter game. Honestly, I'd pretended to be a few humans in my time to gain a tiny bit of the vampire's trust first. I'd say I felt bad but I couldn't because in the end, I was ridding the world of those horrid creatures.
