"I do not wish to die nor do I wish to kill or hurt others. That includes vampires and hunters." It smiled at us and leaned back against the railing of the balcony, crossing its arms. "I would just like to speak to the princess vampire huntress regarding... a recent kill of hers." Colby growled low in is throat. "I do not want to be let in. We can speak right here with your..." Edward's eyes looked Colby up and down.
"Boyfriend." I finished for it, crossing my arms angrily. Its face changed to a large smile, a grin from ear to ear.
"Isn't that delightful." It wasn't a question but I nodded as if it was. Edward sighed and turned to Colby. "Please, you do not need to stay so angry. I don't wish harm upon your girlfriend or upon you." I placed my hand on Colby's arm making his eyes flick to me. After a moment of staring, his face quickly changed back to human form, his eyes big bright and blue again and the blackness gone from beneath his eyes. "Thank you."
"Now talk." I snapped. Edward cleared his throat as if he hadn't spoken already in the last few minutes. He straightened his back. Yeah, he was definitely old, had those customs.
"Miss Vanessa Jones, I am afraid to tell you that one of your recent works has created a sort of anger among the vampire world. You see, he was quite an old vampire and had many subjects, so to speak. Of course, not many new vampires have subjects anymore so it's unlikely for you to understand."
"You mean minions. I know all about them." Edward's eyes watched me speak and they narrowed. He obviously wasn't used to people interrupting and countering him.
"Well, yes." He tried not to glare but to hold up that properness. "Anyways, many people look to him for protection and you left them in the dirt, I guess you could say. This has caused massive uproar as these persons have decided upon finding protection with new vampires, some of which were enemies of dear John." Edward shook his head sadly then his eyes met mine once more. "To cut a long story short, as you say these days." He cleared his throat. "You're now on the top of a hell of a lot of human's hit lists. And since those humans know about vampires anyway, so they have many on their side. I thought I should warn you that you could become a target very fast."
"And why should I trust this information?" I questioned as I shifted all of my weight onto one leg, bending the other.
"Because John was a friend of mine so I know the kind of people he had signed to him. Towards the end of his life, I grew to dislike him greatly due to a few specific incidents." Edward paused, thinking about whatever had happened then sighed. "If you would like some extra help, don't hesitate to give us a call." He threw a small business card through the threshold. I snatched it from the air. "Good day."
