It was nearly an hour later that we made it to Cathy's apartment. We all lived in the same building that we one day wanted to own. I know, not the best ambition but we were working towards it. Jade and I had been a little distant, which was completely my fault. I'd decided that I didn't want her to come too close to me after she'd gotten so mad earlier. I'm petty and that's the point. We stood in the elevator on opposite sides, hoping nobody would get on with us. "Do you think she's awake now?" Jade asked me curiously. Her voice begged for me to reply and I could see her body turned towards me out the corner of my eye.
"I hope so." I grumbled back, my arm getting cold against the metal of the wall I was leaning against. "It'd be pretty awkward otherwise."
"Yeah." Jade chuckled a little then reached out to me, taking my hand. I swear we act like lesbians. "Ness, stop being mad at me please?" Our eyes met and that was it for me. I sighed and stepped close to her for a hug. "Today's been stressful enough."
"I know." I pulled back from her as the elevator let out a quiet ding. We stepped out into the hallway and started walking. My heart was pounding to see my best friend again. She can't be hurt. I need to know she's okay before I can sleep tonight. Strangely, my tattoo felt a little weird the closer to the door we got. It made me slightly worried honestly. Cathy would be weak and maybe a vampire knew that. Nevertheless, Jade and I got to the door and both knocked at the same time. Three straight on the middle of the door.
"Come in, guys!" Cathy called to us. We exchanged a glance before we pushed the door open and saw her stood in the middle of her living room in front of a man we'd never seen before. He was quite lean, brown hair and so many tattoos I could barely count them all. They were even on his hands.
"Hey, how are you?" I asked her as I slowly shut the door behind myself. Jade took a few steps toward them while I remained sceptical. My tattoo was starting to tingle more and more as I started walking.
"I'm feeling way better." She grinned at me, flicking her eyes between the man and me. "This is Mike." That name... he turned to us and I saw it. His deep brown eyes had that light blue ring around them.
