A/N - This imagine is based on the song 'Hair Body Face' by Lady Gaga (it was from the 'A Star Is Born' soundtrack.) In this chapter, Peter and Reader are both in their twenties rather than their teens. I hope you all enjoy it.

Peter had been so excited to show off his girlfriend at an honest-to-God Tony Stark party. He'd been basically vibrating with the anticipation of it all, his hand holding yours a little too tightly in his as your cab pulled up to the Avengers Facility.

In all honest, you were a little less excited. These people were incredible. Physically and mentally perfect human beings, and some not-so-human beings, and you were just you. Peter had always gone out of his way to make you feel good about yourself, whether he was complimenting your mind or your body, but sometimes the nerves got the better of you and your memory of those sweet little comments seemed to falter.

Usually, he would have noticed that something was off with you. He would have demanded that you tell him your thoughts before ever letting you step into a crowd like this one. But he was just so caught up in his own mind, that he didn't seem to notice the lack of excitement on your part.

You clung to Peter's arm as he led you into the room, grinning like a little child as he glanced around at all of the people he knew. You could feels eyes on you the moment you stepped inside, and your breath caught in your throat as he began to lead you over to Tony Stark himself.

You'd never been lucky enough to meet Peter's hero before, but you'd heard about him often enough.

"Mr Stark," Peter had started, smiling widely as soon as Tony turned to him, holding out a hand for him to shake.

"Peter," he started, fondness clear in the way he looked at your boyfriend.

You wished that you could continue watching the interaction in silence, it would be far easier than dealing with the attention that was sure to be thrown your way. "This is Y/N."

Tony turned his smile on you, and suddenly you wanted to be sick, but you forced a smile onto your lips. "The famous Y/N," he announced, just a little too loudly, drawing eyes in your direction. "Pete never stops talking about you," he added.

The small nod you gave was uncomfortable and a little strange, by your own admission. "I was about to say the same thing," you finally managed to utter, as he placed a hand on your shoulder, leaning in to press a greeting kiss on your cheek.

Tony was chuckling as he pulled away. "Pete can be a little chatty, huh?"

"Yeah," you muttered softly, your grip on Peter's hand tightening unconsciously, accidentally drawing his attention to you.

"We're going to go find a drink," Peter told Tony, quickly excusing you both from the situation as you attempted to take a deep breath and calm yourself. He led you through the crowd with a hand on your lower back, pausing when he reached the bathroom door. "Come on," he murmured, nudging you towards the entrance and following you inside.

You released a shaking breath when you caught sight of yourself in the mirror. God, you looked like a scared little kid.

"What's going on, Y/N?"

A small shrug from you caused Peter to release a deep sigh, and you pressed your eyes shut. "I don't know?"

"Is it the same as graduation?" Fucking high-school graduation had been torture. Parading in front of all of those people, you'd almost broken down just before going up on stage, but Pete had gotten you through it with his words of encouragement.

You nodded slightly, "yeah."

"Well then, I know exactly to help," he told you, pulling you closer to him a pressing a kiss to your lips. "You are perfect, no matter what anyone else says or thinks. To me, you are the most beautiful woman in any room and I have always thought so, even before we got together."

"Pete-" you snorted softly, shaking your head.

"Hey," he interrupted you, hand coming up to cup your cheek lightly in his palm. "You are incredible and smart and stunning, and you don't need to care about what any of them could be thinking."

You nodded, leaning into his touch and taking a deep breath. "Yeah," you uttered softly.

"You wanna go back out?"

A small hum escaped you as you shook your head. "Give me another minute?"

"Whatever you need, Angel." He pulled you a little tighter into his arms, pressing a kiss to the side of your head.

You were lucky to have found someone as understanding as Peter, especially when you had been so young when you had first met. He really was incredible, and as long as he thought you were perfect, why should you care what anyone else thought about you?

Another deep breath escaped you as you pulled away from him slightly. "We should probably get back out there before people start making assumptions, huh?"

"Let them assume," he grumbled, leaning in to press a gentle kiss to your lips, "I've got the most beautiful girl in this place; how can I be expected to keep my hands to myself?"

You chuckled, shaking your head. "Idiot," you murmured, pulling away completely and taking his hand in yours. "Come on, we've got to get a drink, and you've got to introduce me to some more superheroes."
