A/N - Hello and welcome to the 100th chapter of this book. It's so crazy that I've managed to post so many of these silly little imagines and that people are actually still reading them. Here's to a hundred more.

When Steve had come knocking on your door with Sam, Nat, and Wanda in tow, you'd been shocked to say the least. You hadn't seen any of them in years, and Steve was the only one you'd kept any contact with, but now here they were, looking worse for wear and frankly terrified.

You'd allowed them to come inside pretty quickly, moving out onto the front step to glance up and down the street. It's not like you expected to see anyone. You were the only house on the road, and none of the people from the nearest town would dream of coming to bother you.

The look you sent Steve as you stepped back inside was enough to let him know he was in trouble, but you quickly calmed your shaking nerves as you moved into the living room and glanced around the group.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" you uttered, swallowing around the lump in your throat. It was so surreal, seeing them all sitting around your living room and you couldn't help but feel completely on edge from their sudden appearance. After a moment of silence you closed your eyes, taking another deep breath. "Please, can one of you just tell me what's going on?"

"I didn't know where else to go," Steve started, and your eyes flickered open to find him, looking bashful as he hovered by the arm of your couch.

"And you thought my house was the best place? I am supposed to be hidden out here; it's why I live alone all the way out in the middle of nowhere." Steve swallowed as you shook your head at him. "In coming here you have put my life in danger. You have ruined the safety of my home."

Sam released a small cough as you glared at the Super Soldier, drawing your attention over to him instead. "We're in trouble, Y/N."

"No offence, but since when was that my problem?" you bit back, face set in a hard line as you drew yourself away from him. "I got out of this shit."

"Tony wants us all to register our powers with the government. He wants us under their control. He would've come here eventually," Steve uttered.

Your mind whirled in an attempt to absorb the information he was giving you, and a sigh escaped your lips. "So you got to me first?" you murmured, running your tongue over your teeth as you nodded your understanding.

"We needed your help, Y/N. I didn't know what else to do."

Fuck. You wanted to hate him in that moment, you really did, but he looked so much like a lost puppy that you couldn't help but feel bad for him.

"You can stay for a while. But I swear, if I have Tony turning up on my doorstep attempting to tear my house apart then you're all out on your arses," you uttered, shaking your head as you retreated from the room.

You were already in the kitchen when you heard someone following you. "Thank you," Steve started, and you turned to look at him.

"Don't," you murmured, leaning back against the counter. "I don't want your thanks. I just don't want you dead."

*Time Skip*

By the end of the first week, half of your new lodgers had left your home. Wanda had gone off to find Vision somewhere, though you had warned her against it. And Nat came and went as she saw fit; turning up at random hours of the night with no explanation of her absences.

Sam had taken to doing the chores for you. Chopping wood for the fire. Getting some gardening done on the mess of land that you had behind the house. He'd even gone up a ladder to clean out the gutters, something you hadn't done yourself in a couple of years. And when he wasn't doing something domestic, he was working out. There were plenty of open spaces around your house for cross country running, and sometimes he'd be gone for hours at a time.
