A/N - This chapter is based on the song 'Crazy' by Gnarls Barkley. I hope you all like it.

Bucky should never have been allowed to set foot near you when Tony had brought you back to the Avengers Facility. It was a dumb move by all involved to let him within a mile of you now that you were in a cage. But they'd done it anyway. You'd been a little startled when he'd walked into the room, striding towards the front of your cell and pausing for a moment when a smile came to your lips.

"Hey soldier," you murmured, getting to your feet to stand as close to him as you could get. You knew him all too well. The Winter Soldier had been the one who had given you your start in the world. He'd introduced you to the higher ups in Hydra and helped you with your transition into the first female super soldier. And now, he'd switched sides and turned all good on you. "Never thought you'd be the one to see the light and go all sane," you added, quirking a brow at him when he let out a short sigh.

"I don't buy your crazy act; you can drop it."

Your smile was gone in an instant, replaced by a scowl that pulled at your lips and left your looking utterly terrifying. When you were younger, before Bucky had changed sides, he had loved the way you could go from innocent sweetheart to murderous maniac in seconds. You were intimidating in a way that other Hydra agents could only dream of, and it came so easily to you. "Who's to say I haven't lost my mind since you've been gone?" you started, tongue darting out to wet your lips. "I always was on the edge, wasn't I?"

Bucky looked a little lost for a moment. You were the only person he had ever met who could have him on the back foot so effortlessly. "What were you doing in New York?"

"Or was it when I met you that I lost touch with reality?" you uttered, ignoring his question as you took a step away from the glass wall of the cell. You watched him carefully, eyes raking over his body. "You really did a number on this little, old brain of mine, didn't ya'?" you added, tapping the side of your head as your eyes met his again.

"Answer the question, Y/N."

You tutted slightly, shaking your head. "God, where'd your patience go?" Bucky raised an eyebrow at you, watching as you smiled again. "What? A girl can't site-see just because she's an assassin?"

"Tell me."

"Come on," you murmured, your smile fading slightly. "You know exactly what I'm doing here."

Bucky shifted on the spot, a movement so unnatural to him that it left you a little confused. "They sent you to kill me," he uttered, and you simply nodded.

"Well, it's that or switch you back on again. I assumed you'd prefer death now that you've started behaving so nicely." Bucky's eyes met yours and you quickly recognised something you had never seen in him before. Fear; pure unadulterated fear, and it was all because of you. "You aren't wimping out on me are you? You know I don't like criers."

A small snort of laughter escaped him as he shook his head. You'd spent so much of your time together when you had been killing, and he knew you well enough to confirm your hatred of the people who wept for you to leave them unscathed. "Yeah, I know." He paused for a moment, smiling at you slightly. "How about we make a deal? You don't kill me and Steve and I'll get you a spot-"

"I don't want to join your little band of merry men," you started, watching as his smile dropped. "It might work for you, but I don't do well with the goody-goodies you hang around with."

"But you'd be free to-"

"You think you're free?" you asked, a bubble of laughter escaping you as you watched him. "You've gotta be kidding me. You aren't any more in control of your life now than you were with us. Except now, you've got to stay within the law."

Bucky's eyes never left you as you paced back and forth in your cell, your own eyes fixed on your feet. "So, you're going to kill me?" he uttered, and your eyes shot back to him.

"No," you muttered back. "I like having the other side of you around. He's fun to hunt with."

He nodded. "Steve'll come after you. He'll kill you."

"I'm a lot harder to kill than your lot seem to think," you spat back. "And besides, I'll have you on my side."

Bucky took a step backwards, away from your cell.

"Where are you going, Soldier?" you murmured, lips turning into a snarl as you stepped closer to the glass. He continued moving backwards, eyes fixed on you until your snarl faded, your lips turning into a smile. "Longing."

"Y/N-"

"Rusted."

Bucky paused for a moment, brow furrowing.

"Furnace. Daybreak."

"Stop it-"

"Seventeen. Benign."

He shifted forwards, eyes widening as he lurched towards the panic button beside your cell.

"Nine. Homecoming. One."

"Please-"

"Freight Car."

He went silent as his body slumped forwards, collapsing onto the ground for just a moment. And then he was picking himself back up, his eyes finding yours through the glass.

"Get me out of this hell-hole, soldier."

A smile pulled at his lips as he stepped towards the control panel, pressing buttons until the door in front of you slid open. He was on you a second later, his lips against yours feeling so normal again.

"I've missed you," you murmured against him as his hands gripped at your waist, pushing you backwards against the wall. "But we really should be leaving before your little friends come looking for you."
