Sort of a prompt.
I watch this youtube channel 'abitfrank' and she discussed the origins of fairytales. One of the scenarios for Snow White is that the evil queen dips half an apple in poison while the other remains untouched. Also, true love's kiss doesn't happen there, the apple gets dislodged from her throat.
Roman talked breezily to the villagers. He just made it to his cottage before being offered an apple by a hag. He smiled tightly. He knew this story. After all, it was one of his favourite fairytales.
He played along.
"How will I know if that apple is safe to eat?" He asked blithely, acting like a himbo.
The hag took a bite from one half, and Roman then knew which side was poisoned.
'Oh well! A bite wouldn't hurt!" He said in a dumb manner. He kept up the himbo act.
He took the apple and looked at the side that was slightly more polished. He took a deep breath and bit into the poisoned side. He dropped the apple and fell to the floor, faintly aware of a side trying to shake him awake.
