A completely unrelated poem I felt the urge to post

Taronga Zoo

When the lights flicker on and night-time falls,

That's when the animals reveal their biggest secret of all,

A monkey steals the keeper's keys and comes to each enclosure,

Unlocking each lock over and over.

Slow koalas awaken, climbing slowly down the eucalyptus trees,

Munching secretly on some more of the lush, green leaves,

They arrive on the paved path and ask casually "What's up?",

While the monkey impatiently tells them to hurry up.

"Hello, how do you do?"

"Quite fair, how about you?"

The elephants are ever so polite,

giraffes bow their long necks down rather than up in the dark sky.

The animals watch the fireworks in the harbour with delight,

The loud sounds sometimes give the bears a fright,

They'll laugh and chatter, it's true,

And they'll do it until they re-open Taronga Zoo.
