Dear Evan Hansen one-shots!

Chilltober 2: rodent

Zoe had just put Tia in her high chair for lunch when she heard scratching coming from the wall.

"Ma-ma!" Tia said, banging her fist on the tray.

"Yes T?" Zoe asked, looking at her 13 month old.

"'Queak 'queak!" Tia said, pointing at the doorway.

"Yeah Tia! Mice say squeak squeak!" Zoe said, cutting a banana into small pieces.

"'Queak 'queak Ma-ma, 'queak 'queak!" Tia yelled.

"Inside voice T." Zoe said, putting her finger to her mouth. Tia mimicked her mother and nodded.

A few moments went by and Tia gasped again.

"'Queak 'queak!" Tia screeched.

"Miss T, inside voices." Zoe said, putting the banana on her tray.

"Ma-ma. 'Queak!" Tia said pointing at the doorway.

Zoe followed where Tia was pointing and saw a large mouse sitting in the doorway. Zoe screamed and Tia matched her pitch right after she did.

The mouse bolted and Zoe grabbed her phone. She hit Evan's contact and the phone started ringing.

"Hi honey what's-"

"WEHAVEMICE!" Zoe screamed.

"Okay honey, slow down, what is it?" Evan said in a calming voice.

"A MOUSE EVAN!" Zoe hissed into the phone.

"Okay honey. Take a deep breath. Where did you see it?" Evan asked.

"T saw it first. It was in the doorway of the kitchen." Zoe said.

"Okay honey, just take a few deep breaths. We'll call an exterminator when I get home, okay?" Evan soothed.

"Okay. Okay, what do I do until then?" Zoe asked.

"Just relax. Maybe take T for a walk later? But just relax okay?" Evan soothed. Zoe nodded.

"God it's like the raccoon again." Zoe whined.

"I know honey. But we got rid of the raccoon, and we'll get rid of the mice and everything will be okay." Evan said gently. Zoe nodded.

"Okay. Okay thank you honey." Zoe whispered.

"I love you." Evan said.

"I love you." Zoe said.

"We'll call when I get home okay?" Evan said.

"Okay. I'll talk to you later." Zoe said.

"Bye honey."

The line disconnected and Zoe sighed and looked at Tia who smiled.

"'Queak 'queak ma-ma."

"You're right T. Squeak squeak." Zoe said smiling. Tia beamed at her mother and shoved banana in her mouth. Zoe kissed Tia's head and sighed.
