Song Jia spoke up, "Ye Minzhe, don't be ridiculous. My room isn't that far away."
Rather, is this brat's brain broken? A distance of merely three steps, is that something worth to be angry about?
Ye Minzhe looked at her in shock. "Jia, you want us to have a long distance relationship?"
Song Jia really wanted to whack him. She recited several sutras in her heart and finally had the patience to say, "I'm going to take a bath, don't bother me."
She went into her room and slammed the door.
Ye Minzhe looked at the closed door in shock. He looked at the two silent butlers and asked, "Is this the so-called 'old wife getting bored, husband will have to guard a cold bed at night'?"
The two butlers, "..."
Young master, that was your sister, not your wife.
They only thought it in their heads, not daring to say it out loud. They knew that they had just irritated the young master, so the two of them stood there without wearing any expression.
Ye Minzhe was also waiting for Song Jia to finish bathing, but he had no interest in chatting with anyone else. Thus, the three of them stood outside her door in heavy silence.
Wanting to fawn over Ye Minzhe, one of them bravely spoke up and said, "Young master is so wise, from which literary book did young master get that proverb from?"
Ye Minzhe gave him a cold look. "I invented it just now."
"..."
The three of them returned back to silence once again.
...
After Song Jia finished bathing, she found Ye Minzhe lying on her bed, long legs splayed over the blankets. One of her pillows was being used to prop his head as he stared at the ceiling with a deep expression.
When he heard the door to the bathroom being opened, he immediately sat up.
"Jia, you're done?"
"What happened to your hand?" Song Jia quickly noticed that one of his hands had been bandaged.
Ye Minzhe followed her gaze and adopted a pained expression. "The butler accidentally broke it. Jia, it's so painful, I can't move and do anything."
In the middle of drying her hair, Song Jia paused.
What the hell? What kind of ridiculous excuse was this? Did he really want her to believe that those timid butlers just randomly decided to break his hand?
Besides, in regards to acting, he was far inferior compared to this grandma. He was obviously faking his injury.
Song Jia wanted to know what he was doing this for, so she asked in distress, "You broke your hand? Then what are we going to do?"
Ye Minzhe perked up. He quickly said what he had been planning all along.
"I can't move, so Jia will have to help me. It would be annoying if I need to go to your room every time I ask for help. I think it would be convenient for everyone if Jia moved temporarily to my room."
"..."
Song Jia silently walked forward, and squeezed his 'injured' hand. "Ye Minzhe, do you have nothing else to do? Why are doing stupid tricks again?"
Too late, Ye Minzhe remembered that his hand was supposed to be broken. "Ow, Jia, that hurts!"
Song Jia let go of his hand in disgust. "Ye Minzhe, you're an idiot."
He knew that Song Jia had seen through his act, so it was no use pretending. Ye Minzhe looked at her sneering expression and felt the corners of his lips curl up into a foolish smile.
"En. But Jia, I'm your idiot."
Song Jia looked at him.
This grandma couldn't afford such a high-ranking idiot, ah~
Papa Ye had already returned along with their classmates, so they went down to the ground floor to meet them.
The apocalypse hadn't really started yet, but most cities were in lockdown, not allowing anyone passage. The transmission of the zombie virus was so fast that it didn't take long for entire countries to become hot zones [1]. Quarantine facilities and shelters were still being set up, the government doing its best to evacuate the citizens.
"Grandpa, I'm at the Ye's estate...yes, I'll tell that to Uncle Ye. The ship we were on sank...oh, the whole family went to Daejeon? There are no outbreaks there?"
"Mom, did you contact Uncle? Doesn't he know the Chairman of the Central Military Commission? I'm at Prince Ye's mansion...yes, his father...Mom, I can't let you talk to him, Uncle Ye's busy!"
"Wuwu, I don't want to go abroad! I don't know how to speak English!"
The large living room was in chaos, and most of their classmates were talking to their phones, contacting family members. Servants bustled here and there, serving trays filled with delicate desserts. There were French macarons, tulipes with a serving of strawberry ice cream, crêpes, and crème brûlée with a creamy, rich interior of custard and caramelized sugar topping.
Papa Ye was eating a whole tray all by himself, only interrupting here and then to shout while raising his dessert spoon: "Kids, it's alright, I already got permission from the military to fly my private planes to the safest shelter in Nanjing!"
Song Jia saw that none of her classmates were really panicking. It wasn't because they were more mature and calm than their own peers. It was because they knew they had nothing to worry about. After all, none of them came from ordinary families. As for those who might have a little trouble evacuating, they didn't forget which house they were currently staying in.
Even if their families were only next-door millionaires, like Sheng Li and Wen Yan, with parents garnering high income and not much political connections, there was still Papa Ye for them to depend on. As long as they were still under his shelter, nothing bad would happen to them.
Song Jia shook her head. Few people have too much, while many have too little. Rather than justice for all, it was a system of justice for those who could afford it. The weight of corruption was so heavy that it tipped the scales to favor the rich over the poor.
Just take a look at her salary. Was it fair that she struggled so much during her transmigration missions, with only a rundown house in Planet Anjing to show for all of her efforts?
This grandma is really unreconciled, ah!
