Trigger warnings: Suicide attempt, overdose, suicide
Just to clarify characters, Nico is their Non-Binary child and Cecily is their daughter.
Let me know if I have something wrong and it needs to be changed.

Evan was stuck at work due to this 'important' meeting that all employees had to attend, and half way through the presentation, his phone had began to vibrate in his pocket.

He snuck a glance at the contact shown on the screen, letting him know that their ten year old, Nico, was calling. He declined, knowing that he was probably just calling to ask if he was stuck at work.

Moments later, they called again. Gradually getting annoyed, he declined once more and shifted his focus back to the speaker.

As the seconds ticked by, he was relieved when he didn't feel his phone go off, but, he may have spoken too soon.

The meeting was interrupted when the receptionist, who just so happened to be a Hansen family friend, walked in with a worried expression plastered on her face.

"Is Evan in here?" Evan raised his hand. "Your child, Nico, they're on the phone."

Evan followed her out of the room and to the front desk.

"They said they tried calling you but you weren't answering, so they called me."

"Nico," he picked up the phone, "can this wait? Or is it like when you called me a bunch of times cause we were out of Doritos?"

"Dad! Why weren't you answering? This is serious!"

"Nico, what's wrong?"

Nico was silent on the other line as they gathered up the courage to say what had happened.

"Cecily tried to kill herself."

Everything had seemed to go numb at that moment.

~Time skippe cause this makes me want to cry~

Evan flung open the doors to her hospital room. Cecily had been diagnosed with depression a few years ago. There were times people would be surprised to find out that she was depressed, because a lot of times she was genuinely happy. But there were also days when her demons wouldn't let go, but never, had she ever done anything like this.

Evan scanned the sight of his daughters body in the white bed.

Nico was clinging onto Connor's torso, while Connor rested his chin on their head, shushing and rocking Nico back and forth as they both cried.

"I-Is. . . I-Is s-s-she-" Evan couldn't finish his sentence. Connor and Nico shook their heads no.

"I found her a few minutes after." Nico started. "I was watching a movie and papa was reading in the other room, and I went upstairs to grab something, a-and I-" Nico cut themselves off with a sob, but tried to regain their composure, "I found her on the bathroom floor with an empty bottle of her meds. I know I'm only ten but I know what an overdose is, I'm not stupid."

Nico and Cecily were inseparable, it was like they were a part of each other. Nico was always there for her depressive episodes, and Cecily was always ready to kick someone's ass if Nico got purposefully misgendered. When Nico came out to their family as non-binary, Cecily became like their mama bear.

Evan sat in the chair next to Nico, and let tears start escaping his eyes.

"Why would she do this?" He asked, still in shock. Before someone could answer, there was a sharp knock at the door.
