Spock

"Spock", can you please help me?" You ask, bouncing your two month old son. He was crying non-stop.

"I don't truly see what you need assistance with. You know what you are doing. I don't think Nathan is enjoying it much, though." He said looking up from his work.

"Spock, this isn't funny, Nathan doesn't stop crying!" You practically yell back.

"What do you want me to do? Call doctor McCoy?" He suggests.

"That's not a bad idea. Call him." You answer. Spock does and he said to bring him to the sickbay. You carry Nathan through the corridors, getting dirty looks from some of the crew. You actually passed the Captain.

"Won't be quiet?" He asked. You nod. Kirk motioned to see if he could pick, Nathan up. You and him over.

"Aw, C'mon, what are you so worked up about?" Kirk asked Nathan. Nathan just screamed louder. Kirk tried bouncing him on his shoulder, but that didn't work either. He handed Nathan back to you. "Sorry I couldn't get him to be quiet. Usually, babies love me."

You walked away, continuing to sickbay. When you got there, Doctor McCoy was waiting.

"Lay him down on the bed." He said. You laid Nathan down and say next to him on a chair, playing with him.

"Lets see what's wrong with him." McCoy said scanning him with a tricorder. "Nothing. He's just fine. Can I ask you sorta a personal question?"

"What kind of question?"

"It's about Spock. Does he ever hold and cuddle Nathan?"

You thought for a minute. It had never really dawned on you that Spock never held Nathan. You shake your head.

"Try that. Sometimes babies sense that the other parent isn't holding them or hugging them. Especially, Vulcan babies. Well 25% Vulcan." McCoy said.

"I'll see if he can try that." You answer picking up Nathan. He was still crying.
When you got back to your room, Spock was still working.

"Spock, doctor McCoy said that you should try holding Nathan." You say.

"Why?" He asked.

"He said that sometimes babies know when one parents isn't holding them of loving them. Please try it?" You explain. Nathan was still crying in your arms.

"Alright," Spock said standing up. He walked over to you and took Nathan. Almost instantly, Nathan settled down. "Fascinating."

"Spock, you did it." You whisper. "Oh wow."

"How are you Nathan? Sorry I never held you too much before." Spock whispered to him. "I'm going to try to put you down so you can sleep."

He slowly put Nathan down, but the instant he did, Nathan started screaming again.

"Spock, can you just hold him tonight? It was working." You ask. He nods and picks Nathan up again.

Later that night, you, Spock, and Nathan were going to bed. Spock had laid down on his back with Nathan on his chest. You snuggled up next to Spock.

"You are amazing, Spock." You say.

"I'm not as amazing as you." He said back. You kissed him and he kissed you. Nathan was sleeping still, and you and Spock were happy.
