April 9th - Prompt - Race

--------

"Peter! Edmund!"

Both boys glanced up from where they'd been sat under a tree in the park, spotting Susan over by the gate.

"Yeah?!" Peter called back.

"Mum said dinners ready!"

Peter nodded, standing. "Good." He murmured. "I'm hungry."

Edmund smiled as he stood too. "I hope it's something nice." He said.

"I hope rationing ends soon." Peter added. "It's getting ridiculous now."

"You're telling me." Edmund grumbled, rolling his eyes a little.

Peter shrugged, before smirking. "Race you home?" He said slowly.

Edmund raised an eyebrow, before grinning. "Oh you're on." He laughed.

"3...2...1...Go!"

Edmund was indeed very fast, but Peter had longer legs and was still faster, and be beat Edmund by only a few seconds.

"Seriously how old are you two?" Their Mum muttered as they burst through the front door, but she was smiling, if only slightly.

Susan walked in after them, rolling his eyes playfully as she closed the door, shaking her head.

"Still - still faster." Peter panted, leaning against the wall.

Edmund glared playfully at him. "One day." He breathed. "I'll beat you, mark my words."

Peter chuckled, trying to catch his breath, before he smirked and shrugged. "I'd like to see you try."
