week four

"i am still your TA am i not?" I spoke confidently as Natasha nodded watching my every move. She was in a plain grey suit, i would imagine. I couldn't see her bottom half but she had a grey blazer on and i know how much she likes to match. She had a plain white top underneath, nothing special.

Natasha also looked a little exhausted, like she hadn't been sleeping all week just like me. We hadn't spoken since monday night, i never actually replied to her message opting to leave the conversation there.

"we still have to keep up appearances, or else people will think somethings going on" I elaborated as Natasha nodded.

"right, yeah that's a good idea" I slouched in my chair looking up at the ceiling. I honestly didn't want to be here but oh well. "are you okay?" Natasha asked just after i let out an exaggerated sigh.

"no, don't do that. you lost the privilege to ask me that after monday" I spoke maybe a little harsher than i meant. I was still annoyed with my conversation with Professor McKay.

"Y/n, come on. i still wanna make sure you're doing okay" Natasha spoke sweetly, it almost made me regret being mean, almost.

"no, Natasha no" Natasha glared at me, she hates it when i call her that.

"you know how i feel about you calling me that" Natasha spoke with no expression.

"fine i won't call you that anymore, Professor Romanoff" Natasha scoffed as she rolled her eyes. "you wanna know how i am? shit. plain and simple. i've had a horrible week, i can't sleep, homework is kicking my ass, and to top it all off i had another not so pleasant conversation with Professor McKay" Natasha softened her expression as she looked back at me again.

I shook my head as i crossed my arms. "i don't really want to talk, can we just sit in silence?" Natasha just nodded with a small smile.

Half an hour went by before Natasha spoke again. We still had an hour until Russian started so still basically a lifetime.

"what did Professor McKay say?" Natasha asked all of a sudden, breaking the uncomfortable silence we were in.

I sighed thinking whether or not i should tell her. "she made a comment on how i've finally found appropriate clothes. i just hummed not responding which she found so amusing considering i had so much to say last time she commented on my clothes. so then i went off on another long winded rant" I explained, i wasn't looking at Natasha as i spoke.

"which she seemed to enjoy even more than me not saying anything. i don't know what her problem is, i'm honestly just so exhausted" I sighed closing my eyes.

Natasha didn't reply instead she gave me a sympathetic smile just before i laid my head on my desk.

~ natasha's pov ~

I hate seeing Y/n like this, i know i'm the reason she's sleep deprived and not her happy self. However i needed to end things, it was the right move, for both of us.

I spent the next twenty minutes staring at Y/n, she was still sat with her head laying on her desk. I don't know if she had fallen asleep but i kinda hoped she had. She looked like she needed some rest.
