"Frank, will you go get Hazel and Leo up for breakfast?" Chiron asked as I left my cabin for breakfast.
"Um, sure."
Walking slowly to the Big House, I thought of what I could possibly say to Hazel. I love her? I miss her? I want to get back together? I'm sorry? Too many options. I decided not to say anything but what I came to do.
That escalated quickly. I saw them cuddled up on the same cot, holding hands. I felt my face heat up with rage. Walking up to them, I slapped Leo.
He woke up with a start. "What the Hades was that for?"
"Stay away from her. Come to breakfast."
Leo laughed. "Just so you know, you guys aren't together anymore."
"Watch yourself."
"I'm not afraid of you."
Hazel began to stir at our voices at a shout. "What the- Frank!"
She saw us nose to nose as fists clenched.
"I can't believe you!" She shrieked.
"Hazel, wait!" She stood up and tore off her medicine and heart monitor, running away.
"Great job." Leo mumbled as he chased after her.
I just stood in the room until I walked out and heard the two talking.
"... believe him!" Hazel sniffled.
"Hazel, it's ok. I'm here." Leo soothed.
"He just, I-" she seemed to compose herself. "It's fine. We're not together, I'm over him."
That made me die a little inside. I bolted out when I heard a door open and sprinted to my table. I didn't touch my food. Hazel walked out with Leo holding her like a prom date to help her keep balance.
Once she sat down and Leo went to his own table, Chiron stamped his hoof an made an announcement that made my heart drop into my stomach.
MEH, I'VE WRITTEN BETTER.
