Mackenzie's POV

After James scares the living day lights out of me, I rush over to Lily and Marlene because I have a feeling they want to know about Remus.

"OMG, you two are so cute! He totally has a crush on you and you totally have one on him too!" Lily whisper-screams.

"I do not!" I protest.  "And he definitely doesn't have one on me," I say softer.

"Of course he does!  He does not offer to give someone a tour then sit on a bench with them and wrap an arm around them." Marlene says.

"Well, he is the type of person to offer to give a tour but definitely not the second part," Lily agrees.

"Actually, I lifted his arm around me because I was cold and he didn't look cold at all," I say softly.

"And you say you don't have a crush on him," Marlene says rolling her eyes.

"And he didn't move his arm away so he totally likes you too!" Lily squeals.

Then Lily and Marlene start talking about how cute we would be together and all of this over girly stuff I have no interest in so I turn and watch the boys.  Sirius is standing there chucking about something, James is dying laughing and Remus looks so embarrassed.  His face is turning bright red and is trying to shut up Sirius.  I wonder what Sirius is saying.  I focus really hard on trying to hear them and finally I hear it.  Sirius is talking about me and Remus kissing!

"Silencio!" rings through the air making everyone stop talking and look at the Marauders.  Remus looks even more embarrassed and is looking right at me so I grin at him and immediately he starts to relax.

Lily taps me on the arm, "I wonder what that was about."

"I have no idea," I lie.  "Sirius was probably being an idiot," that parts true, "so why don't we head into the Transfiguration room?"

"You are so lying Mack!" Lily says staring at me.

"How do you know?" I ask, no one can ever tell when I'm lying.

"She didn't. She was just trying to see if you would fall for it and say you were lying, like you just did. She does it all the time," Marlene tells me.

I glare at her. "Don't do that to me."

"So what was that all about then? Because I know you were lying," Lily says poking me.

"Fine," I huff. "They were picking on Remus about me, that's why he looked so embarrassed."

"OMG! Totally likes you," Marlene and Lily squeal.

"Nope, not even close. He doesn't like attention remember. He's shy," I say softly.

"Okay, true that."

We walk into mum's classroom and Marlene and Lily run to the desk front and center. Each desk is set up in pairs of two so I have to sit behind them. The Marauders file in behind us and I hear a bunch of scuffling. I turn around and they all straighten up and act like nothing happened. I turn back around to the front and the next thing I know, someone is shoved into my chair. I whirl around and almost bump Remus in the head. Remus and I freeze, there is like an inch in between our faces. I watch Remus' eyes and see them flitter down to my lips before looking back up so quickly it's like I must've imagined it.

Remus sighs and moves away from me so he is a more comfortable distance away.  "Sorry Mack, those two idiots shoved me into you. Do you mind if I sit next to you?" Remus asks me.

I lean over to Remus' ear and drop my voice to a whisper, "I don't know Remus, are you going to start kissing me in a tree?"  I lean back and see his face shocked.  I grin at him, "I don't mind at all Rem, take a seat."

He gapes at me, then slides out the chair and sits down. "You heard that," he whispers looking nervous.

"Yeah I did," I whisper back. "I'm taking a guess they were picking because you don't offer to take girls on tours much or sit with your arm around a girl."

He blushed, "yeah I don't do that."

"Well, I feel special Remus," I say with a grin. "I'm glad you break out of your shy shell around me. Also can I punch James and Sirius for being stupid and teasing me too?"

"Why are you asking me for permission?" Rem asks laughing.

"Because you are a prefect! I don't want to get in trouble!" I exclaim.

Remus chuckles, it's an amazing sound. "You seem to be forgetting I'm a Marauder. I've seen more things than you can bet. I also let those idiots get away with a lot of bullying which I really shouldn't."

"Yeah, you really shouldn't be so lenient with them Remus," I say with a grin and lean on my arm.

Remus copies my stance but leans closer to me, "Probably, but then they would call me hypocritical. I'm not always nice."

"Good Morning Class!" My mum announces as she walks into the room. Super loudly, might I add, so Remus and I jump apart a bit. James and Sirius start cracking up behind us. I give them my evilest glare.

"Good morning Professor McGonagall," we all say back.  This class is a mix of Gryffindors and Slytherins.

"Alright class, get out you books and turn to page 220. We will be learning about Animagus. You may take notes if you wish," she says in a certain tone where you realize that notes should really be taken.

I reach into my bag and pull out my textbook and parchment. Why are there no quills in my bag? I scrounge around in my bag looking for them. "Oh shoot," I mutter under my breath.  "I left my quills in my dorm room."

I look up and see a quill sitting on my piece of parchment. I whirl around and look at Remus. He's sitting there looking straight ahead at Professor, already writing down notes.

"You okay there Mack?" He questions me without looking at me.

"How do you know something is wrong?" I ask.

"I can feel you staring at me. It's the same stare from Sirius and James a lot. The 'I'm confused' stare."

"Haha, very funny Remus."

"C'mon slow poke, catch up on your notes."
