Happy holidays sugar plums! I'm so excited for Christmas and as a thank you I thought I'd share a preview of Chapter 81. Now it's not perfect nor is it completed but I thought you all might like to read it. I am going to keep working on rewriting this book and I am hoping to repost it as a separate book so it is less confusing for everyone on where to start and what is the right version but I need a cover first so that's on hold.

Anyways, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and have a very merry new year. Covid has been a thorn in a side this year and I hope everyone has a better year in 2021.

With the upmost love and well wishes for you all,
NMK

Marlene's POV

"You sure you're ready for this?" Mackenzie says softly standing next to me in their guest bedroom, well I guess my new room. Professor McGonagall allowed me to repaint it so now it's dark blue and has my possessions from school and from back home in it.

I take a deep breath. "I think so."

She nods and doesn't say another word and sits down on the bed and holds out her arm. "Just focus and it should come naturally."

I close my eyes and search through my brain for what I need. The breath I was holding comes out fast as I find the memory I'm searching for, the first time I ever rode a broomstick.

Father noticed how much I would stare up at the sky and watch the clouds go by during the day and the stars at night. For my 8th birthday, he bought a broomstick. It was small but it would do the job. It would allow me to join the sky. He took the whole summer teaching me carefully before he would allow me to actually fly. Mother did not approve.

It was the last day of summer, the night before my older siblings went back to Hogwarts. She grabbed my arm and pulled me out of bed in the middle of the night with her own broom in her hand. "Let's go fly."

"Father said I wasn't ready yet," I said softly, whispering to not wake my parents up.

She laughs, "You can only learn so much from a textbook. You have to experience it."

She grabbed my broom from the shed and led me out into the center of the gardens behind our house.

She laid our brooms side by side and stood on the right side of hers, she was a leftie.

I stepped up to the left side of mine and looked over at her. She held out her hand and whispered, "Up."

It immediately flew into her hand. I looked at her with wide eyes and she nodded.

I closed my eyes and held out my hand. "Up." The second the wood touched my hand a grin grew across my face.

I opened my eyes to see my sister already hovering off the ground in front of me with the biggest smile on her face. I never again saw her as happy as she was that night.

She nodded again and I quickly climbed onto my broom. "push off firmly but lightly," she said. "Don't worry, I'll catch you if anything happens."

I nod back and push my toes off the ground and instantly I was in the air. I zoomed up higher than she was. She must've gotten nervous because she quickly got to my side but I was steady. I was born to live my life in the sky.

Another smile crossed my face as I felt my magic shift within me. I grew smaller and feel my skin cover with feathers.

I open my eyes and flap my wings smoothly. I rise into the air and then land softly on Mack's arm. Well I thought it was soft. Apparently not because she immediately winces.

I release my talons softly and she smile at me. She reaches up and rubs the top of my head softly. "That was amazing," she says softly.

I lift off from her arm and fly around the room. I do several laps before the unthinkable happens. Minnie opens the door and I fly right into it.

"Ow," I say softly rubbing my head and I realize I somehow transformed back.

"MUMMMM!" Mackenzie shouts standing up fast.

"Oh my goodness, are you okay? I was coming up stairs to tell you girls that it's almost time to go to the funeral."

"I'm fine Professor," I say softly while standing up.

"Are you sure?" She says, placing a hand on my shoulder, "Coming out of animagus form that quickly can throw you off."

"I feel unsteady, but it'll pass."

Mack smiles. "Think you can hold your form for longer than that if you, you know, don't get hit with a door."

I look at her and smile. "Yeah I think so."

Mackenzie grins at her mother. "I think we know how Marlene is going to attend the funeral without me having to steal from the boys.
