Mackenzie's POV

It's finally Friday and I walk down into the common room just in time to see Sirius run in muttering something about a snivel thingy and James sprinting out after him back out the portrait hole.

Remus and Peter are nowhere to be seen and Lily said something earlier about dragging Marlene and Alice to the library. Something about studying for NEWTs already. Dear lord, if she's this hardcore now I wonder what she will be like next spring.

Shrugging, I walk over to an empty armchair and pull out my potions essay. It's already done but I might as well revise it. Mum always said to read my essays over again because 90% of the time I forget something important.

A few minutes later there's a large crash and I react just in time to catch an apple that comes flying at my face. I turn around to see a younger girl lying on the ground in front of the couch. "Dammit Potter," she grumbles, kicking a large bookbag that was laying carelessly on the ground. "Pick up your damn stuff before you leave the common room."

I walk over and hold out my hand. She looks up and takes my hand. I pull her up easier than I thought, and her feet leave the ground. "Wow you're strong," she laughs, brushing a bright blonde hair out of her face.

I chuckle, "I think you're just small." I hold out the apple in my other hand. "I think you dropped this."

"Thanks," she says with a grin. "And yeah, I'm pretty small, that's what makes me a good chaser."

"You're on the quidditch team?" I ask, my eyes growing wide. Quidditch is the best. Mum talks about it all the time.

"You must be Emmaline Vance," I say, recognition dawning on me. Mum always talked about this small girl with blonde hair that's one of the fastest fliers. "McGonagall has mentioned you to me before. You were one of the youngest girls to ever join the team."

She laughs, "Yup that's me, well, besides Professor McGonagall herself."

"Wow," I say with a smile, dropping back into the armchair behind me. "That's awesome, congrats."

She smiles and sits down across from me. "Thanks, as you can see, I'm a little clumsy though. Mum says it's a gift, dad calls it a curse."

I shake my head. "You don't seem clumsy; Potter just seems to be careless."

"You can say that again," She shakes her head, "he is the absolute worst."

My eyes widen. "You don't like him?"

She shrugs and takes a bite into her apple. "He's alright. Better than Black though. Those two combined is like hell breaking loose."

I cross my arms and lean forward, "Really? It seems like everyone loves those two."

She laughs, "Yeah, it does seem like all the girls would love to be with them and all the boys would love to be them."

I nod. "Those pranks must get annoying."

"You have no idea." She says loudly smacking her hand against the armchair. "Those two don't have an off-switch. They've even done a prank during a quidditch game!"

         My mouth drops open.

"McGonagall would've killed them if we didn't win that game," she shakes her head. "Our old team captain was pissed."
