Mack's POV

Whoosh

"Well hello Remus," I hear Mrs. Potter say from the parlor. Sirius nudges my side causing my maple covered pancakes to miss and stab straight into my cheek. I slowly lower my fork while staring him down before grabbing my napkin off the table.

"Hello Mrs. Potter, I hope you don't mind I arrived earlier than expected. My parents were more than happy to see me off early."

Mrs. Potter sighs happily, "Of course not dear, you know you are welcome here anytime."

I continue my glare at Sirius as I bring my fork back up to my mouth.

"They are all in the kitchen just finishing up their breakfast darling."

Footsteps slowly get louder heading towards the kitchen. I continue eating while keeping my eye on Sirius. Suddenly he waggles his eyebrows to the person behind me. I turn around quickly to get a face full of milk. I lunge out of my chair at James immediately shifting into a lioness when a mass hits my side out of nowhere. I fly over the kitchen island before slamming back first into the ground.

CRASH

A mewl comes out of my mouth and my eyes focus on a dark grey wolf standing over me, pinning me to the ground. I tuck my chin in submission and relax back to human. When my eyes reopen, Remus is hovered in a plank over my body.

"Hey love." A large smile graces his features, making all the marks on his face disappear into his skin.

"Rem!" I squeal sitting up quickly and wrapping my arms around his shoulders tightly.

A chuckle escapes his lips, blowing air right next to my ear sending shivers down my spine. "You got to let me go Mack so I can give you a good hug!"

I remove my arms and scooch backwards, looking down sheepishly, "Sorry Rem."

He plops down onto his bottom in front of me. "It's all good."

"WHO WOULD LIKE TO EXPLAIN WHY A WOLF AND A LION WERE JUST IN MY KITCHEN?" Mrs. Potter shouts in the entryway with a ceramic bowl shattered at her feet.

Immediately Remus jumps up to his feet while Sirius and James try to back out of the room.

"Boys don't you think you can escape on me," she says keeping her gaze sharp on Remus, stepping right over the broken shards. James and Sirius stop in their tracks and look at the ground. She raises her hand up to her forehead and sighs. She tilts her wrist behind her before muttering repairo. "Follow me." She walks towards the back door, she wrenches it open, "All of you."

Remus holds out his hands and gently pulls me to standing before leading me out to the garden so James, Sirius, and Remus are all in front of me. We slip through the garden until the flowers make way to a large patch of grass.

Mrs. Potterr turns around and folds her arms behind her back. Her gaze hardens on the boys, "Shift."

Remus lets go of my hand and I move off to the side, creating enough room in between us to safely shift. I close my eyes and feel myself shrinking down onto fours as I go to my natural white wolf. I open my eyes and turn my head to see a dark grey wolf, a stag, and a black dog all standing in front of Mrs. Potter. I lower my nose to the ground and take two steps towards Mrs. Potter before reverting to a grey kitten. Two more steps, a phoenix; two more, a snake; and so on until I am a foot in front of her. I revert back to human and straighten up slowly.

I take a deep breath when I recognized how shocked her facial features are. "My metamorphus abilities combined with the Animagus ability, I can change to any animal," I whisper looking at my feet. "I'm registered as a silver kitten but the white wolf is my natural."

Moving only my eyes I look up at Mrs. Potter to see her nod.

"And you taught the boys?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Why?"

I open my mouth when James cuts me off. "We wanted to be able to help Remus when he transforms monthly."

Her expression melts into happiness and she walks towards her son. She places her hands on James' shoulders before turning and moving her right hand to press against Sirius' cheek. "I am so proud of two of my sons for working so hard to help my third son." Sirius and James lunge forward and wrap their arms around her in a tight hug.

She holds out one arm and motions for Remus. "Come here dear."

He rushes forward and joins their hug. "My boys," She cooes, "You will always be mine."

A sob croaks out of my mouth as I take in the pure elation covering Sirius and Remus' faces. It might not be a birth family but the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.

Their heads turn to look at me sharply but a laugh escapes my mouth. "Family," I grin. "A true family.""

Sirius untangles his arms and walks over to me. He wraps his arms around me and twirls me in the air. "Don't think you missed out on this crazy family?"

Laughter fills the air as he places me back down on my feet. "You're just as crazy as I am Siri."

Sirius looks at me grinning but slowly it fades into confusion as a silver burst of light lands right next to us. A mist of a dog emerges from the spot it hits.

"They've come for us. Help, Sirius, help!" Marlene's voice echoes through the still air.

Sirius turns around quickly and holds out an arm to James and Remus while he tightly wraps his arm around my waist. "Meet us there mum?" he asks looking over his shoulder to see her already running inside.

"I'll alert the aurors then come to McKinnon Manor," She shouts before disappearing from our view.

We land roughly in what must be the study judging from bookcases covering every wall.

Sirius rushes over and wrenches open a door that leads towards the yelling of spells. Sirius, James, and Remus run straight down the staircase leading towards the fight. I slip behind them silently before transforming into a mouse. I sprint down the stairs and weave between everyone's feet, searching for Marlene.

A flash of black hair catches my eye. I turn sharply to the left before rematerializing right next to Marlene.

"Marls!" I shout over the commotion.

Her eyes open wide as she sprints to my side. q"What are you doing?" Marlene screams, grabbing my shoulders. "You are supposed to be at your home."

"I stayed at the Potters for an extra week," I explain quickly, pulling her behind a door to guard us from the attack.

"You can't be here Mackenzie!" She hisses, "He's here for you."
