Remus' POV

We come upstairs towards our room after dinner all sullen. It's been two weeks since break and Mackenzie still isn't here.  None of us know where she is or what could've happened to her.  The scary part is that her mum nor Professor Dumbledore have been at dinner since the Welcome Back feast.

I walk in the room first and instantly I freeze. Mackenzie is standing in front of my bed in just shorts and a sports bra. I mean it's a huge surprise because she's beautiful and never changes in the room but that's not why I froze. The alarming part is that her left arm is in a sling with a huge bandage over her shoulder and there are scars all over her back.

I slowly back out of the room and turn back to look at James and Sirius. They stopped when I did but they couldn't see inside.

"What's going on, mate? Are you okay?" Sirius asks. I must look scared.

"It's Mack, she's back," I whisper.

"Oh that's great! We have so much to tell her!" James exclaims.

"No guys, you don't understand," I say seriously. "She's injured and it looks pretty bad."

Both their mouths drop open.

I walk into the room and see her struggling with a shirt; I almost explode. "Mackenzie McGonagall!" I say. "Where have you been? We haven't seen you since before break started but break ended two weeks ago! And now you turn up hurt! What happened to you?"

"I'll explain in a minute," she says softly, looking up to me with vulnerable eyes. "But first can you help me put on a shirt Remus? I can't use my arm at all."

Her calmness relaxes me enough that my voice stops coming out angry.  "Of course," I say softly.  "I'll always help you..." Because I think I love you, I finish in my head.

I walk over and realize she has my shirt in her hand.  "You want to wear my U2 shirt?" I ask shocked.

She just nods back.

"Okay," I say with a smile.  I step behind her and undo the straps on her sling. Then I pull the shirt over her head and then gently ease her arm through before reattaching the sling.

"Thanks Rem," she says with a grin.

"Of course," I tell her. Then I lean forward to whisper in her ear.  "I think you look better in this shirt than I do." She blushes from that comment. BONUS! I really shouldn't be getting my hopes up since we haven't talked about everything yet.

"When you two lovebirds are done flirting we would like to know why you are hurt and what those scars are from?" James says, tapping his toe on the hardwood floors.

I blush and so does Mack.  She climbs up onto my bed but I stay standing. I lean back against the post of Peter's bed to look less intimidating but I'm still really mad.

She sighs, "While you all were gone on break, I went into the forest in my Animagus form.  I was attacked by an animal while I was in there. It tore apart my shoulder and I've been in St. Mungos ever since."

"St. Mungos?" Sirius asks incredulous.  "Why didn't you stay here?"

"It was bleeding really bad and not healing with magic so Professor Dumbledore sent me there so I could be attended to by some healers."

"What type of animal attacked you?" James asks.

"My mum says the scratch was made by a centaur but I don't believe her," she says softly.

"Why do you not believe her? She's your mum!" I ask.

"They don't necessarily look like a centaur scratch. More like a werewolf scratch actually," she says simply. Well her voice sounds emotionless but her hair starts getting darker. She's getting upset.
