Lily's POV

James and I trail behind Sirius on the walk to Professor Dumbledore's office. Both boys are very quiet and sullen, so much to the point that it's suffocating. I reach out with my hand and grab James' left hand softly. Just enough that he can feel it but light enough that if he doesn't grab back I can play it off.

I feel a strong squeeze back and he doesn't let go of my hand.

"Tell me about your parents James," I say quietly. "What does your mum look like?"

He sighs. "Well, my mum and dad both have dark brown hair. Dad has the same shade as mine, mum's is a tad lighter. Mum has hazel eyes while Dad's eyes are brown. I got the bad eyes from my mum."

I nod, "So you are a mix of your parents then?"

"Yes," James says softly.

Sirius turns around quickly. "If James took off his glasses though he would look just like his dad."

"Oh really?" I ask surprised.

"Oh yeah, I look just like him," James says shaking his head. "I'm not being sarcastic either, people just say that a lot if they know my dad."

I nod and James says the password to get into the Headmaster's Office. We walk up the rotating staircase and Sirius knocks on the door.

"Come in!" Professor Dumbledore calls out and Sirius opens the door. We walk slowly inside and stand in front of his desk.

"I already got the Floo powder out and I alerted St. Mungo's that you are coming. Your parents are on the fourth floor James."

James nods and tugs me over to the fireplace. We step inside and James calls out "St. Mungo's." When we arrive, we walk out of the fireplace and wait for Sirius by the front desk. Once he arrives we get into a lift and go up to the fourth floor. Sirius and James take a deep breath and lead us out of the elevators once we arrive. We walk down the long white hallways until a healer tells us what door to go to.

"Please don't let go of my hand," James leans down and whispers in my ear as we all pause outside the door.

"Okay," I nod. I look towards Sirius and see him nervously tapping his foot and shaking. I reach out with my other hand and grab Sirius' hand. "We're all together and have each other, no matter what okay?"

"Okay Lily," Sirius says softly readjusting his grip on my hand.

James slowly opens the door and we walk inside. In the room are James' mother and father laying there in separate twin beds. His mother is awake and reading a book while his father is sound asleep.

"James," Mrs. Potter calls out softly, slowly letting go of the book and lifting up her arms. James immediately lets go of my hand and runs to his mother. He wraps his arms around her so gently and she squeezes him closely.

"Mum," James cries softly. "I was so worried."

She leans away, "Nonsense darling. I'm absolutely fine. The healers said I will heal nicely."

She looks over at us standing by the door and moves one of her arms out wide. "Sirius, come give me a hug."

Sirius grins and let's go of my hand. He walks over in what would look like a calm manner if you didn't notice the shaking in his hands. He joins Mrs. Potter and James in a hug and instantly Mrs. Potter is smoothing down both of her boys' hair in a soothing manner.
