Sirius' POV

I wake up in the morning and see sunlight streaming into the room. I look over to my right to see James' bed is still empty from the night before then I notice my clock. 10:16 am.

I throw the covers off me and start to jump out of bed when I notice Remus reading calmly on his bed.

"Relax Sirius, McGonagall released you and James from classes this morning. I haven't seen him yet to inform him though," Remus says putting down the book he was studying. "This is also my break period so I am studying here. I figured you would wake up soon."

I sit back down on my bed and rub my face with my hands.

"How was seeing the Potters yesterday?" he asks once I lower my hands.

"It was good. Mrs. Potter was awake but Mr. Potter was asleep. He was injured worse than she was. We got back around 3 am."

Remus nods. "You guys were there for a long time; around 4 hours I think. Do you know where James is though? I haven't seen him all morning and really need to tell him he is released from morning classes."

"I have no idea, Lily stopped him when we left Dumbledore's office saying that she had to talk to him so I walked back alone. I don't know why he didn't come back yet."

"What did she have to talk to him about I wonder?"

"Maybe she told him about being soulmates and they are off in the Room of Requirement," I tease wiggling my eyebrows to annoy Remus.

"Wouldn't that be interesting?" Remus jokes back. "Honestly though, Lily is not like that."

"Yeah, I suppose you are right," I mutter. "Do you think it is too early for lunch?"

Remus looks at me thoughtfully. "Maybe but since there is a study time right now in the Great Hall there might be food if you want some."

"Let's go, I'm hungry right now," I say jumping out of bed. I quickly change my clothes and brush my long hair while Remus continues reading his book. "Remus, I'm ready. Let's go."

I start walking out of the room as Remus mumbles something to himself. "What did you just say?"

Remus jogs up to my side. "I didn't say anything Sirius."

"Yeah right," I glare at him.

He shrugs, "Believe what you want."

We walk into the Great Hall and see James sitting at one of the long tables with his head down in his hands.

"James buddy, what's up?"

We get closer and see that his eyes look tired and puffy and he has a shirt from the lost and found bin on.

"James are you okay?"

"Lily was attacked last night. I've been with her all night and most of this morning."

We both plop onto the bench next to him and he continues talking.

"Her body isn't liking the healing. She keeps getting these fits that are reopening the wounds. The nurse just kicked me out because she saw how upset I was getting. I need to be with her though," his voice rises. He looks up at us and I see his eyes becoming shiny with unshed tears. I look down at his hands and pants and notice some dried blood on them. I look over at Remus and he nods at me, noticing the same things I do.

"Let's get you up to the Common Room, mate. You need a shower to wash off Lily's blood," Remus says pulling James out of his seat.

"Yeah, mate. We will help you out okay?"
