Mackenzie's POV

I walk quickly up to Lily's side. "Everything okay Lily?"

She nods silently as we pass some classmates before pulling me an empty alcove. "Is everything set for tomorrow afternoon?"

"It should be. You and James will take the passageway to Hogsmeade and disapparate under the cloak to the funeral. Mum knows and she said she will keep the professors distracted if they ask for you. And then tomorrow she agreed we will have a small memorial by the great lake for your parents. Dumbledore agreed."

She takes a deep breath. "Okay that sounds nice."

"Sirius and Remus have worked with Professor Sprout to get some flowers while for the memorial," I add softly.

"That's so sweet of them."

I nod. She smiles and taps me on the arm and walks away.

I look around me and make sure I'm alone before I transform into a silver kitten. I sprint down the hallway and run outdoors towards the large oak tree. The group of boys are laying down on the grass 'studying' in the surprisingly warm day. I launch myself into the air.

BOOM

I transform in mid-air and land smack onto Sirius' back.

"WHAT THE HELL!" He yells loudly before looking over his shoulder and seeing my lying on top of him. "Dammit Mackenzie. That hurt."

I roll off his back and end up on my stomach next to him. "Sorry Siri, you were just the easiest to land on."

He gestures to his left where Peter and James are both laying the exact same way as him.

I shrug, "Okay maybe you were just the fluffiest pillow to land on."

His mouth drops open and I scramble to my feet fast and scooch over to behind Remus. "ARE YOU CALLING ME FAT?"

He stands up fast and pulls up his white uniform shirt. "I'll have you know Mackenzie that I have a full 6 pack!" Immediately I hear some chuckling from the other boys.

"Yeah, well, Remus has an 8 pack," I smirk. "Show 'em Rem."

When I don't hear anything, I look over to see him shaking his head at me. "Sorry but I'm not getting in the middle of this Mackenzie."
"Oh yes you are!" Sirius shouts, marching over and ripping up Remus' shirt himself.

"Ah!" Sirius gasps. "How are you more ripped than me? It's... It's not possible."

I lean around Remus and smirk, "Werewolf."

Remus rolls his eyes and pulls his shirt back down.

Sirius sits down and crosses his arms. "I can't believe it. The little bookworm we graciously took in freshman year is more ripped than me."

"Oh please, Sirius, if we took anyone in, it's you." James chuckles. "You were the outcast from a Slytherin family."

Sirius throws his hand over his heart and gasps again. "Dear brother how can you hurt me like this?"

James laughs, "We're Maruaders, this is what we do best."

Sirius grumbles and looks away from us. He stares at the lake for a while before looking back at Remus and I.

"Hey Moony, how long until the next full moon?"

Remus shrugs, sitting down and pulling me down with him. "Around 2 weeks," he says quietly like he's just guessing. He's not. It's exactly 16 days until the full moon. He has it memorized. Actually... most of us do, why is Sirius asking?

"Sirius, you have been memorizing the moon schedule since first year," James says, obviously thinking along the same lines as me. "Why are you asking?"

"Bite me." Sirius says looking straight at Remus.

We all gasp and look at him with our mouths agape.

"What? I'm serious. Well, obviously because I'm Sirius," he rambles for a moment. "But really bite me, then I can be all muscular and mysterious like you." He waggles his eyebrows at the last part making James and I burst out laughing.

Unfortunately, Remus finds no humor in this and gets up and marches away from the group.

I sigh and shake my head at Sirius before jumping up and running after him. "Remus! Slow down!"

He slows down a little bit which is enough for me to catch up to him in the outdoor breezeway that leads to the greenhouses. I step in front of him and place my hand on his chest. Finally that makes him stop but he still wont look at me. "It's okay Remus, he didn't mean it."

"And what if he actually did?" He whispers harshly before looking around to make sure we are alone. "What if he antagonizes me on the next full moon and doesn't get out of the way if I were to go to bite him?"

I lower my hand and he looks down at me. "I'd feel awful Mack," he shakes his head. "I don't want to ever force someone to live like me."

"I know Rem," I say softly, grabbing his hand and leading him towards greenhouse 1. This greenhouse is full of plants that are just about to start flowering. It's one of my favorite places this time of year. "And you wouldn't because James, Peter and I would be there to get him out of the way. We would never let you hurt anyone."

He shakes his head and sits on a bench inside of the greenhouse. "You all shouldn't even come. If I lost control..." He trails off and absentmindedly traces a scar on the back of his hand.

I sigh and sit down next to him. "And if you did, we would get out of there. Those boys might be reckless, but they aren't stupid. Even us Gryffindors who revere courage know when it's best to run away."

Remus shakes his head. "You know them well Mack, but not like me. Sirius and James would never back down. They would be horrified if they ever fled somewhere like a dog with its tail between its legs."

I chuckle, "Could you imagine that? Padfoot running away with his tail tucked."

Finally I make Remus grin. "God he would kill anyone who saw that. And we would never let him forget it."

I smile and drop my head onto his shoulder. He wraps his arm around my shoulders and pulls me closer. "We have the weird friends, don't we?"

He sighs and places a kiss on the top of my head. "The weirdest."
