Chapter 10: Key

It's been a month since Emma has started her case with Mr. Jones. Killian has basically been spending almost every night at Emma's. She's been working very hard and Killian wants to spend time with her so he stays over. She hasn't complained yet but that's probably because she's been very occupied with the case.  They are eating breakfast together before Emma goes to meet with her boss again.

"Love I hate to keep asking you this but I really want to know if I can meet my father"

"Killian I told you that it's not in the best interest of the case yet. We don't want anything to happen to you and Liam and more importantly Becca"

"I know Emma but Liam keeps bugging me about it, I mean we just figured out that my father wasn't a bloody deadbeat"

"Killian believe me I understand what you're feeling but I can't let you get hurt. I'm not going to let anyone I love get hurt"

Killian pulls her into a hug

"You haven't said that in awhile"

"I know, it's just I'm worried about Mr. Conklin. We have basically nothing on him"

"Emma you found a glimpse of him on a security camera. That's the most anyone has found on this guy in awhile"

"I know Killian but that's what's worrying me. He knows that your dad is in jail. He knows the body was found."

"Emma Emma Emma you need to calm down. Look I love you and nothing is going to happen to me"

"You can't promise that Killian."

He kisses her forehead

"I'm a survivor Swan. I love you, never forget that. Look how about we go to a special dinner tonight to celebrate our 4 month anniversary"

"It's our 4 month anniversary? I've never really kept track of that stuff"

"Well we've been dating for about 4 months I don't know the exact day"

"Well I'm meeting with Mr. Humbert in an hour to talk about the case. I don't have a lot of time. We've been discussing you guys and he knows I'm dating you which is why he isn't letting me do everything on this case. Now I have a personal connection with the client"

"Emma I"

"Look it's not your fault and your father doesn't even known that I'm dating you but now I could be a target for Mr. Conklin"

"Emma we are going to be fine"

Emma looks at him unconvincingly.

"I'm going to my meeting now"

"So are we on for dinner"

"Killian I really don't think I'll have time"

Killian pulls Emma into a hug.

"Tonight you are going to forget about work and just relax. Meet me at 6:00 right here"

"Here?"

"Yes it's about time I cook you a fancy dinner. I know I've cooked things before but I'm going to go all out tonight"

"Sounds good, see you tonight"

She pecks him on the lips and leaves. Killian picks up the phone and calls Rose.

"Hey Killian what's up" Rose says

"I need your help with something"

"Is everything alright"

"Yes I want to do something for Emma. She's going to be out all day and I want to make her a romantic dinner and decorate her house with flowers"
