Chapter 37: Beach

It's June and the first week of summer! Henry is 13, the twins are now 2, James is 5 months old. They are going to the beach with Liam, Rose, Becca and Lily. They wake up early in the morning to start their 3 hour drive to a beach in Rhode Island. Emma and Killian set their alarm for 6am. They get up and Killian packs the bags into the car. It takes him awhile to fit all the bags in the trunk. Emma definitely packed a lot of stuff for the kids. Emma goes upstairs to wake up Henry

"Good morning kid. Time to go to the beach"

"Ugh it's early mom."

"I know, you can sleep in the car. Come on"

Henry gets up and goes to the bathroom. He washes his face, brushes his teeth, and grabs his phone and earbuds. Emma wakes up Ava and Liam and brings them downstairs. Killian packs snacks for the ride, Henry grabs some Disney DVD's. Emma places Ava in her car seat in the back row next to Henry. She puts Liam and James in the front row of the minivan. She places a Cinderella DVD in the tv inside the car. Hopefully they will fall asleep watching the movie. Killian starts the car and they begin their drive. Killian drives with one hand and holds Emma's in the other.

"Our first family vacation love" Killian says

"This will be fun, right" Emma says

"Well they are asleep right now, hopefully that will last"

"Do you think they will like the beach"

"Well they have the sea in their blood. I don't know about the sand though"

"Is James too little"

"Em stop worrying, he'll be fine"

"Did I pack enough sunscreen"

"Trust me you packed enough clothes and items for a year"

"We have two toddlers and a baby who mess up everything"

"That's true, very true"

"I'm excited to spend some time with Liam and Rose. We haven't seen enough of them"

"I know, we have busy lives with kids. I see Liam at the bar when we exchange shifts"

"I'm glad that you're so close with your brother"

"Aye, I love him and Rose"

"Yes, Rose is a great friend."

They drive for an hour and a half before James starts crying and wakes the twins up. Killian pulls over so Emma can nurse him and change his diaper. They recently potty trained the twins so they pull over at the next rest stop. Everybody pees and then they get back in the car.

"Mama can we play music" Liam asks

"Sure honey, what should I play" Emma asks

"Disney!!!" Ava says

"I wouldn't mind that" Henry says

"Let's play daddy's favorite" Emma says

Emma turns on Under The Sea and the whole car sings it loudly. James just gurgles and smiles at his happy family. He is starting to get very light hair like Emma and blue eyes like his father. Ava and Liam both have dark brown hair and bright blue eyes. The car ride ends up going very well. After three hours they arrive at the beach house. This is a house that Liam's friend owns and lent to him for a week. It is a big house with 8 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms; it even has 3 outdoor showers. The house has an average sized pool and a hot tub. Liam and Rose arrive shortly after them.

"Auntie Em! Uncle Killy! Becca says

Becca hugs Emma and Killian, and Lily follows her. She really follows her every move.
