Chapter 41: Brother

They have had Baloo for a week now and it's going pretty well. He's only had one accident in the house and Henry is staying true to his word. He is walking him and feeding him, Killian is helping out too. Rose stayed over one night then went back home. Killian and Liam have been arguing over the phone a lot. Their girls decided that the four of them are going to sit down and talk today at 2:00pm right before the bar opens. Henry is at school and the twins are at their half day preschool. James is playing on the floor with Baloo while Emma and Killian sit on the couch.

"It's so hard not having the twins around"
Emma says

"I know but they only go twice a week for 3 hours" Killian says

"I know they need independence, but I just want them to have parents"

"Em they have a beautiful amazing mother and a decent dad. They aren't not growing up like we did"

"They have a wonderful father too"

Killian kisses Emma's lips

"Em.........I really have to tell you something"

"Babe what is it, what's wrong. You've been acting odd lately I just thought it was about Liam"

"Well, you know how I have always loved to cook"

"You're a fantastic cook"

"I applied to a couple head chef jobs"

"That's amazing, why didn't you tell me"

"Because I didn't want to tell Liam, I didn't have the guts to tell him that I hate working at the bar. I want to cook good food and not have to run a business. I know I should've told you sooner"

"Hey, Killian it's okay I understand. I think you can talk to Liam about it. I'm sure he'll understand that you are just following your dream"

"His dream was to have a family. Now I have ruined that dream by causing problems in his marriage"

"Hey it's not your fault, they need to work it out by themselves. I don't think the bar is the only issue"

"Do you think that will happen to us, if I get this new job and become really busy"

"I love you and nothing will ever change that. We can adjust like we always do"

"I feel like I made you quit your job when I was jealous of Graham, I was an idiot"

"No you didn't make me quit, but you did overreact. You know me Killian, trust me I would be working more if I wanted to. Working from home has been amazing. If I need to go on a case I can. I'm surprised that I enjoy being a somewhat stay at home mom. It just makes me happy that my children have a family, and I can help others find people they need"

"Your kids know how badass you are, my Swan"

"I don't want them to know that word"

"I know, so you really think that I can tell Liam this afternoon"

"When are you supposed to hear about the job offers"

"Tomorrow morning sometime"

Killian lets a few tears slip down his cheek, Emma wipes them away and kisses him

"Babe talk to me, I know I've been hormonal and crazy. I'm trying to take care of the kids and a puppy. But I'm here to talk to you, as your wife, as your best friend"

Killian embraces her in a hug

"I love you so much Emma. I really want this job, but my brother he was the only thing I had for so long. I feel connected to my mom when I cook, I never knew her growing up but now it's the thing we bond over. What if Liam never wants to talk with me again"
