Chapter 54: New Years Eve

Killian and Emma are going to a New Years party at Killian's restaurant tonight. So they are having a family New Years party right now at 7. They give the kids noise blowers and plastic cups with sparkling cider. They count down loudly from 10 and scream happy new year! Then Henry turns on some music and they have a family dance party. They all jump around until a slow song comes on. Henry and Grace dance together, Ava and Liam dance together, Emma and James dance together and Killian dances with Ellie. Ellie gets fussy so Emma and Killian take her into her bedroom

"Babe how long is this party tonight" Emma asks as she places Ellie in her crib

"Well I wasn't planning on staying passed 1, why"  Killian says

"I'm not feeling that great"

"Sore throat?"

"Yeah and my stomach is a bit upset. It's probably nothing I'll be fine. Liam had a sore throat yesterday, maybe I caught whatever he has"

"Em if you really don't feel good we can stay home in bed all night. You know I have no objections to that"

"No I'm fine, let's go. I know you want to spend time at the restaurant and we need sometime alone"

"Alright well let's get ready to go love"

Anna and Callum come over to put the kids to bed. The kids now think that New Years is over except for Ava but she plays along. Killian opens the door and hugs them

"Thank you guys for watching the kids"

"Of course son" Anna replies

"Well they had their version of a party and should fall asleep quickly. Now we told Henry and Grace they can have a few friends over and they will hang out in the basement. It's just some of his soccer friends and their girlfriends. We agreed that you guys won't come downstairs and only check on them once. Their friends will leave right after midnight."

"Are you sure you trust them son" Callum asks

"Henry and Grace are good kids. They finally want to have some friends over, so I'm happy" Killian replies.

Emma walks downstairs wearing a gorgeous black dress

"Emma you look wonderful" Callum says

"Beautiful" Anna says

"She's always stunning" Killian says

Emma hugs them and hands them the baby monitor, and Killian kisses her on the cheek.

"Well Ellie is asleep and the kids are playing in Liam's room. We shouldn't be gone much past midnight" Emma says

"Sounds good enjoy your night" Anna says as they leave.

They get in the car and drive to the restaurant

"Is everything alright Emma you're a bit quiet"

"Yeah I'm just stuck in my head."

"Want to talk about it"

"Not right now, let's just enjoy this night alone"

They drive up to the restaurant and walk inside. The restaurant is full of many people who are friends of Killian and Mario. Emma and Killian talk with Mario and his wife Giana.

"Killian shows me pictures of the kids all the time, Elizabeth is very big now I'm glad she's doing better" Mario says

"She is, they grow up very fast" Emma replies

"Well we have one son, Giorgio, he is 11" Giana says

"Yes my boy, he's growing up very fast as well" Mario says

"Well it's fun while it lasts right" Killian says

"I agree. Speaking of, Killian I have a letter for you" Mario says

"A letter?" Killian asks

Mario goes into the office and fetches an envelope from the desk drawer. He hands it to Killian

"What is this" Killian asks

"It came for you a couple days ago but I wanted to give it to you tonight" Mario says

"Why?"

"Well look at the sending address"

"It's from New York"

"Yes it is"

"Mario I'm not opening this tonight"

"Why not! I thought it would be special to find out you got a job on food network on New Year's Eve"

"Or it might be a great way to ruin my new year"

"Just open it Killian" Mario says

Killian opens the envelope and takes out a letter. He skims it rather quickly and then pulls Emma in for a passionate kiss. She pushes him away slightly

"Easy tiger, we've got company. I take it that means good news" Emma says

"I got a job as a judge on the tv show Chopped"

"That's wonderful babe!"

"Amazing job Killian" Mario says

"Excellent work" Giana says

"So what does this mean Killian" Emma asks

"Well it means I have to go to New York for a couple of weeks. We can work it out love, it will be fine"

"Right, we can work it out. I'm proud of you"

Emma kisses him. They spend the rest of the night talking and eating with people. They turn on some music and dance a bit. At about 10 minutes till midnight they bring out a small tv to watch the ball drop. They pass out glasses of champagne. Everyone counts down from 10.

Happy New Year!! All the couples kiss. Killian takes a swig of his champagne. Emma stares at him with a half smile on her face.

"Is everything alright love"

"I have a New Years surprise for you"

"What is that my love"

"I'm pregnant"

"Are you serious love"

"I am"

He pulls her into a kiss and takes the glass of champagne out of her hand

"When did you find out"

"Right before we left. I was feeling sick and I thought I would take a test, I was a week late. I would've told you but your parents were there and I thought I would try to make it romantic but I"

Killian silences her with another deep kiss

"Emma I'm incredibly happy"

"Even though we already have a crazy house with four little kids and now you're going to New York"

"Emma our parents can help out. Plus I have to call them and work out the details. How far along do you think you are"

"I'm not sure. I'll probably be only a few months pregnant when you leave so it shouldn't be a big problem"

"We will be fine love. I'm so happy Emma, this is a wonderful way to start the new year"

"I have a better way to start it" Emma says with a smirk.

She grabs his hand and pulls him out the front door. They get into the car and put down the seats. Emma unbuckles his belt and pulls his pants down. Killian reaches under her dress and finds nothing there

"You really were planning this weren't you love"

"Happy New Year" she says with a smile as he kisses her and moves on top of her.
