Chapter 49: Bouncy

It's the twins 4th birthday and they are having a party this afternoon. Ava wanted a book club type of party and Liam wanted a party on a boat. Emma and Killian decided that they would get a bouncy house and put it in the backyard. That way all the kids can enjoy it and it won't cost a lot of money. About 10 kids are coming from their preschool. The family comes by early to help set up. Anna helps Killian and Grace in the kitchen. Callum and David entertain the kids downstairs while Emma and Mary Margret decorate. They set up tables and chairs in the backyard and plug in the bouncy house. Baloo tries to get in the bouncy house so Emma has to place him in the basement with the kids. He will have to stay there during the party. Emma carries Ellie on her hip and places some cute decorations in the backyard.

"Emma do you need me to hold her" Mary Margret asks

"I'm fine Mom, really"

"Emma I'm just a little worried about you"

"Don't worry Mom, I'm fine and she's fine"

"It's just that you need to take a breath"

"Really I'm doing fine"

"You haven't put her down at all Emma. You know that if you look away for a second she won't disappear"

"You're overreacting, I'm fine and I need to make sure she is okay"

"Are you sleeping"

"What?"

"Are you sleeping at all"

"Well that's none of your business"

"Emma, you need to take care of yourself"

"I just can't seem to shake the thought that she will have a heart attack in the night and I won't know!"

"Emma you told me the doctor said she was doing fine"

"Her blood pressure is looking good, she's had a few arrhythmias. We've only had to take her to the hospital twice"

"Emma I'm sorry, I don't know what to say"

"Look mom here isn't a right thing to say. She's alive and she is healing. The doctors say she is improving and that she will live normally eventually"

"Emma everything will be okay, because it has to be"

"That's not true, it doesn't have to be"

"But it will, Have a little faith"

Mary Margret takes Ellie out of her arms.

"So you won't watch her inside during the party" Emma asks

"Emma I understand that you are afraid of her becoming ill"

"Mom she is sick, we've got a lot of stress in our lives right now

"You haven't taken her outside the house around people except for doctor visits"

"Did Killian tell you that"

"No, I noticed it."

"Alright but what if something happens Mom. I would never be able to forgive myself"

"Emma you are an amazing mother. Much better than I ever would've been. You have kids who adore you and this baby will be safe because she has you and your husband"

"Thank you"

They finish setting up for the party and finish preparing the food. Liam and Rose arrive along with the party guests. The kids play outside while the parents sit around and talk. Emma holds Ellie while she is talking to Rose.
