Orbs... Oh how I see this word so much...
You know, I first thought this was a clever idea back when I was naive about writing (age 11-15). Now I understand it is annoying as hell.
The word "eyes" is tiring after using it so much in a short time. I get it.
But orbs?
C'mon...
Please try something that's not so stupid.
I seriously just saw "orbs" in replacement of "eyes" on a psychological story the other day. And it was the first time they addressed the guy's eye color!
If I wasn't laying down in bed, I would've went to the first wall I could and bang my head on it.
Just... stop.
When the word "orb" is used, I don't think of eyes generally. I'm a ghost freak, so I think of those little white balls that are caught on night vision cameras in Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters. I don't think of eyes!
Plus, we have simple items known as orbs. Spherical objects, people!
Just please put an end to the word "orbs" as a way to say eyes. Use something logical, like these:
Iris(es)
(Color) gaze
There's not many others that I can think of. But don't use "orbs", it's annoying!
If you're stumped, just use "eyes" as usual. It's somewhat like when we have problems with the word "door".
Leave a vote (if you wish) on if "orbs" annoys you as well.
