It seems most of the cliche books start with these scenes.
Teenage girl with her parents moving into a new town.
Why?
"Because we HAD to move!"
Yeah right...
If you're going to have the character move, have it be reasonable.
Maybe one of their parents got a new job or promotion that required them to move. That's what I'm using in my book A Step to Death.
Maybe they lost a job?
Maybe their grandparent is getting ill and your MC's mom or dad needs to move closer to them so there's someone in the family taking care of them.
JUST GIVE A GOOD REASON OH MY GOSH.
IT ISNT THAT HARD.
