Flaws and Quirks

When I see stories on here, I notice one thing is generally missing from many of them: flaws.

Characters also don't have their unique little bits or quirks, which helps to make them more three-dimensional.

But there is a flaw! My MC is cursed with being too beaut–

Nope. Stop right there.

Being too beautiful is not a curse or any type of flaw. Neither is being popular, skilled, or anything else seen as a gift/pro in a character.

Here's a list of just a few flaws
-Severe acne
-Wheezing when excited
-Scars on the face
-Impatient
-Too chatty
-Annoying

I think that's enough to get at my point.

Flaws are negatives. They are not things you say are a curse for being so gorgeous or amazing.

And please... Stop overusing some flaws. You're making them cliché, and some aren't even actual flaws!

The clichéd flaws
-Clutz
-Glasses (how tf is this even a flaw?)
-Idiocy/Naiveness
-Nerd (again, how?)
-Out of shape

Give your characters actual flaws that work! I'm tired of seeing the same ones overused or seeing good things portrayed as flaws!

Now... Onto quirks.

These are usually things that characters do that can annoy or bother other characters. It seems no characters have quirks and it pisses me off.

-Needs a stuffed animal to sleep (me all the way)
-Clicking pen constantly
-Snorting while laughing (again, me 😂)
-Germaphobe
-Fear of bugs
-Playing with hair

Those are just a few. Please use them for characters! They're so bland without them and make me lose interest in books!
