Eddy didn't know what to think of Brett's new weird hobby. It was kind of cute, but at the same time it was kind of strange that a grown man was having one large shark and one squirtle sit with them when they were watching TV or eating, or insisting on putting a blanket over them and hug them before going to bed at night.

If Eddy was completely honest, it made him feel more like a babysitter than a boyfriend most of the time.

He knew he'd have to say something at some point. He did not expect that point to be just after a long, tiring day of filming, watching Brett's gleeful face as he held out the shark, Damian, to him with a simple request.
"Damian wants a goodnight hug from you too! Hug him please?"

"Brett, seriously, are you five?" Eddy groaned, rubbing his tired eyes with the palms of his hands. "This was funny the first fifteen times."
He had never seen Brett's face fall that quickly before and a lump formed in the bottom of his stomach because of it. He hadn't meant to be mean, he just didn't feel like playing this game today.

"S...Sorry..." Brett replied to the unexpected response, moving the shark away from Eddy. It was obvious he was trying to hide the fact that he was embarrassed and hurt. "Didn't mean to push you."

His voice had dropped a full octave below where it was just moments ago, and while he sometimes did that to turn him on, Eddy also knew that this happened when he was sad.

"Brett, I'm sorry, I'm just tired and..."
"Don't worry about it," Brett said quickly placing Damian gently on the couch, not wrapping the blanket around him like he normally did. "I guess it's kinda silly anyway. I'm going to bed."

When Eddy got to their bedroom, Brett was already curled up under the covers looking like he was asleep. He sat down on the edge of the bed, plugging his phone into the charger before crawling into bed with him.

"Eddy?" he heard quietly from under the covers, and he turned his head to look at him.
"Yeah?"
It was quiet for a few moments, and Eddy thought he had fallen asleep again.
"I'm sorry for pushing Tim and Damian on you. It was just a stupid attempt to play around. I won't do it again."

Eddy closed his eyes for a moment. Brett was lying with his back towards him, thankfully. He had no idea what was the right thing to say.
"I don't mind the games sometimes, but I don't get why you keep doing it," he began, shifting slightly closer to him. Brett didn't move. "I mean, it's just... Stuffed toys?"

Brett slowly rolled over to face Eddy, looking at him with big sad eyes.
"You really wanna know? Because it's really stupid, I promise."
Eddy felt a stab of guilt seeing how red Brett's eyes were. Had he been crying?
"I'll believe it when I hear it," he responded softly, reaching over the covers to push some strands of hair away from Brett's forehead.

Brett got a beautiful shade of pink over his cheekbones, and his eyes moved to look at anything but Eddy's face.
"I know we talked about it, but I just really love how gentle and careful you are with them and uh... I guess I just daydream too much into a family life with you."

Eddy's heart dropped like a stone witg guilt. The one thing he felt awful about in their relationship.
"I'm sorry I can't give you that," he said quitely, pulling his hand back. Brett got a panicked look.
"No, no. Eddy, that's not what I meant. It's just a silly daydream, like imagining to be a world famous soloist. Stuff that won't happen, like seeing a parallell universe for a bit."
Eddy sighed.
"I'm sorry anyway."

Brett reached out and took his hand firmly under the covers.
"Listen to me, Eddy, I don't need to have children, okay? What I need is to be with you and to make you happy. If we were able to have them, then sweet, but we aren't so I'm not gonna fuss around with that."

Eddy looked at him with sad eyes.
"But it would have been better like that, right? If I just was a girl or something?"
Brett had a smile playing on his lips, but he tried to hide it.
"Are you trying to push Edwina onto me? It won't work, I'm only into Eddy."
Eddy raised an eyebrow.
"Really? I've seen you eyeing her up. Should I be jealous?"

Eddy loved the giggles escaping Brett's lips.
"You no like Edwina, ah?" Eddy squeaked, imitating the persona. "I'm so disappointed. Kiss me and I'll change your mind."
Eddy leaned forward to kiss Brett, but Brett tried to push him playfully away.
"Noo, Edwina, I only kiss Eddy ahh," he laughed as Eddy placed kisses all over his face.
"Ah Eddy Eddy! Edwina is better for youuu," Eddy squeaked, followed by a laugh in his normal register.

"But I want Eddy! Please bring back my Eddy!" Brett laughed, looking up at him. When did they move to this position, with Eddy leaning on his arms over him like that?
"Alright alright," Eddy said in his normal voice, leaning down to kiss Brett quickly. "I'm glad you wouldn't cheat on me with her."
"Whaat? I would never," Brett grinned. "Now kiss me again, please."
