Kaito stifled a small yawn as he headed back to the apartment. He'd checked the weather on his phone to see if it was too cold or not for him to head out. Thankfully the air was cool, but not as chilly as the last time he'd tied to go out. Since it indicated that it would get colder later in the day, the teen had left swiftly in order to beat the cold, and to help him resist the urge to listen in on Ginzo and Misty's conversation. Eavesdropping was a habit of his that was hard to fight at times.

Indigo gleamed a bit as he wondered if the two would even notice that he'd left. The drug store wasn't that far from where they lived so it was completely possible that he could just pretend that he'd never left in the first place.

A small glint in the corner of his eye suddenly caught his attention, his gaze narrowed as he traced it to the top of a tall building. If he were at a heist, he'd have thought that it was a sniper, maybe some small repairs were being done to it. Kaito stifled another yawn, switching the bag he was carrying from his left hand to his right as he began to cross a bridge.

Instincts suddenly screaming, he sidestepped, pain suddenly shooting through his right cheek. Easily recognizing the familiar pain of being grazed by a bullet, the boy staggered and fell off the bridge, making sure that it had looked like an accident.

Safely out of the shooter's sight, Kaito clung upside down to one of the bridge's support beams. What the hell? Why'd he get shot at?! He hadn't done anything suspicious as himself lately. The boy bit his lip, worry filling him as he ignored the warm blood seeping from his newest injury. He needed to get away from here in case whoever shot at him went looking for his body. Kaito couldn't help but grimace, the only thing that'd saved him was his instincts since he was used to being shot at.

Kaito scanned the structure, easily plotting a way down without being seen. Once he was on the ground, he hid in a few bushes before bolting his way towards an alley and launching himself up a fire escape route until he was high enough to fling himself onto a roof. The boy then scurried so that he was behind a maintenance hatch so that he was hidden from the shooter's direction.

Once he deemed himself safe enough, Kaito opened the bag he'd been carrying to pull out the first aid supplies that he'd initially bought to care for his empty eye socket. He pulled his sleeve so that it covered his hand before spitting on a metal duct and using his sleeve to wipe away enough grime for him to view himself. The boy couldn't help but frown when he saw himself, the whole right side of his face below his cheekbone was covered in blood. Head injuries always did bleed a lot, but at least the cut didn't look too bad, he'd easily had worse.

With a small sigh, he texted Ginzo telling him that he'd left to buy some things but would probably take a while before returning. He slipped his phone away before working on patching himself up, there was no way that he'd be able to return all covered in blood, people would notice. Indigo narrowed as he popped open a bottle of disinfectant, maybe he should change his coat too, just in case.

Ginzo stared at the text, a rush of relief filling him. Kaito hadn't gone to look for the Crows, he'd just gone out to buy a few things "He just went to the store" He breathed aloud.

Misty let out a breath "That's good" Just sitting around had been nerve wracking. She turned towards the inspector "Does he often leave without notice?" It seemed like something that Kaito might do, but one never knew for sure.

"Off and on" The inspector admitted, running a hand through his hair. He hadn't texted Kaito in case it might endanger the boy. He let out a sigh "The timing was horrible as fuck" He growled half to himself.

The woman offered a small smile after checking her phone "At least we know Kaito won't be targeted since the kills happen within the last ten minutes of each hour" Kaito had texted around 12:07pm. That meant that he'd only be in danger if he stayed out for too long, which wasn't likely.

Ginzo nodded, feeling weary, the day had passed by swiftly so far.

It hadn't taken long for him to patch himself up, nor snag a different coat for himself. Though that still didn't mean that the inspector wouldn't be annoyed at how he'd managed to get hurt once more. Not to mention that he'd spent a bit of time backtracking and taking random routes in case he was being followed. There was absolutely no way that he'd allow himself to lead dangerous people to both Ginzo and Misty.

Kaito self consciously touched the newest bandages covering his face as he entered the building, though this time it was more like a patch than like his older injuries. At least the bleeding had stopped so that it didn't soak through. That was something right? He glanced at his watch, noting that it was almost 1, he'd been out a lot longer than expected.

When he peered through their door, he spotted Ginzo sitting on the couch. Misty wasn't visible but he smelt something good "I'm back" He breathed, closing the door behind him before removing his shoes.

Ginzo's gaze narrowed, Kaito looked a bit pale "You have more bandages" His tone was accusatory, making Kaito shrink back a little.

"Yeah" He offered a nervous smile "I don't know what really happened so it's not my fault" He'd been shot at, but he didn't know why.

The inspector sighed, gaze softening "What happened this time?" He was just relieved that the boy hadn't gone after the Crows.

Me: This was quite fun to write~

The chapter name is many people's fear... Math combined with multiple languages~

I'm so glad that I arranged my room so that my bookcase hides my bed from the window =~=

Balcony work has been going on for days and I despise being watched. Gah impossible to put up curtains in my apartment since windows reach the roof >^<

...Their paint job also kinda sucked... not worth the stress of people being outside my window playing music
