You couldn't get over what you'd heard. Draco Malfoy was a Death Eater and Snape was helping him. Feeling betrayed you took off back to the party with Harry close behind you. Dumbledore trusted Snape and now look at what had happened, he was being lied to the entire time and with Dumbledore travelling and with no real evidence other than your word you and Harry couldn't do much.
"We must have misheard -" You entered the party again with Harry.
"(y/n) we both know what we heard." Harry stopped to look at you. "I know how you care for Draco and that Snape doesn't entirely hate you but we can't trust them."
"We need to tell Dumbledore -"
"You know for a Hufflepuff Marty sure isn't kind." Fred had now interrupted the two of you.
"There's bad in every house that's why." You replied now turning to Fred. "Not all Slytherins are evil, not all Ravenclaws are smart, not all Gryffindors are brave and not all Hufflepuffs are kind but that's not important now." You turned back to face Harry as he spoke.
"We can't tell Dumbledore, can we? He's 'travelling' according to Snape."
"After what we just heard, I don't trust him. I'll go look for him myself."
"What's going on?" Fred asked.
"I'll explain later." You tried to brush it aside but Harry decided to also give Fred and answer.
"Draco Malfoy's a Death Eater," Harry added bluntly.
"He's what?" Fred asked, taken back. "I mean ... why wouldn't he be?" Fred now changed his tone. "Look at his family! His Dad's in Azkaban."
"About bloody time he was there too." You mumbled, looking around making sure no one was watching any of you before beginning to walk out of the room.
"Who are we gonna tell?" Harry asked.
"Lupin."
"You can tell him at Christmas, that's soon enough isn't it?" Fred suggested and he was right. You were all due to be spending Christmas at The Burrow other than Hermione who was still annoyed at Ron so she decided to stay at home this year.
"I will," You looked at Harry. "we both will. I can back you up on it, just you alone won't be enough to convince Lupin."
Harry agreed as the three of you left the party and headed towards the common room. Your mind was racing. You knew Draco was acting out of fear, he must be ... he was the type of boy who liked to act tough and pretended he could do these things but he couldn't. Not on his own anyway, and Snape ... you trusted him, so did Dumbledore and now he's plotting with Draco. Snape had made an unbreakable vow meaning you knew Snape was in fact working for the Dark Lord and there was no going back. You just couldn't comprehend why he'd act so nice towards you when he knew you'd turn your back on him the moment you knew the truth. Perhaps that was part of his plan, to act nicer than usual so you'd join him ... but little did he know you'd never do such a thing.

It was now Christmas Eve. You'd managed to stay out of Snape's way during the last few days of teaching and you'd given Draco very little acknowledgement when he came into your lessons but it was the holidays so you wanted to just forget about the war for one day, forget about Snape, Draco, everything that had gone wrong for just one day.
You were sat in the kitchen with Ron and Harry who were currently peeling a mountain of sprouts for Mrs Weasley. The two of them were still underage so they were unable to use magic for the task instead they were using peelers and knives whilst you sat and watched, much to their disgust as they'd been trying to convince you to use magic for them but you refused.
