When, Lan wangji realised that Wei Ying was awake, he realised that his plan was completely foiled. Erasing someone's memories required the person to be under sedatives for atleast four days and unconscious. But, wei ying at the moment was not under any sedatives even though he was sound asleep.

"It's been sixteen years"

Lan wangji stoped playing his guqin and looked at the other side of the room to see wei ying wide awake.

"Sixteen years since we have been married together" Wei Ying said as a lone tear left his silvery orbs.

Lan wangji got got up and walked towards Wei Ying. As he sat down next to wei ying, lan zhan helped him sit straight with the help of a pillow against his back.

"Do you remember the day we got married?" Wei Ying asked curling his hands around Lan zhan's headband.

"It was spring" Lan zhan whispered undoing wei ying's robes. He let wei ying play with his headband and continued to do his work.

"You were the prettiest person I saw that day" Lan zhan said with a slightly fond smile as he remembered the day. Wei Ying smiled when he heard that and pressed a kiss against Lan zhan's palm.

"You asked others if I was going to be a Wei or you were going to be a Lan" Wei Ying chuckled slightly when he remembered the vague memories of his past.

"That must have been awkward" Lan Zhan nodded agreeing with him and put his robes down on the floor after reminding himself that he needed to wash them. A nostalgic warmth filled lan zhan's heart when he heard wei ying giggled after a long time.

"We stood under the magnolia tree with a lot of bunnies, whilst the imperial painter made a portrait of ours" Lan zhan said looking at the potrait which hung on the other side of the Jīngshi.

Lan Zhan's smile faltered back to his original look when he saw the wounds on wei Ying stomach.

"The wound at your stomach?" Lan Zhan asked slightly grazing his hands over his partners wound.

"The wound?" Wei Ying looked down at his tummy and saw that his stab wounds were bleeding out right now. With a slight smile on his face wei ying said, "it's fine"

Lan Zhan wasn't having any of wei ying's explanation and undid wei ying's under robes with ease.  Wei Ying clutched onto the hem of Lan zhan's sleeves and hissed in pain when one of his fingers pressed the wound.

"I'm here" Lan Zhan said in a calming tone undoing his bloodied bandages making sure not to press too hard.

"They aren't healing" Wei Ying whispered when he saw the wound which looked just as the day he got stabbed.

"Mn" Lan Zhan hummed.

"How long was I out for?" Wei Ying asked pulling his sleeves back to see how many scars were left on his hand.

"Three days" Lan Zhan replied back applying the salve on wei ying's wounds.

"Your body has traces arsenic that's why your scars aren't healing" Lan Zhan said noticing the two scars left on wei ying's hand.

"One for Jin guangyao and one for me if I don't avenge" Wei Ying whispered sitting straight in a desperate attempt to feel the pain get better.

"Take some rest." Lan Zhan said getting off the bed to get wei ying some food. The younger's eyes twitched when he tried to make up a myriad of excuses to escape from Jingshi.

"I will go bring some soup"

"Lan Zhan" Wei Ying called him out in a non-urgent tone, lan wangji, turned to look at wei ying and nodded which meant that he was listening to him.
