//Riptide Campaign..!

I spoke about this small idea on my Tumblr? (totally-bones if you're interested..! Mainly shit-posts I'll be honest) and I've been wanting to get around to writing it since I thought of it :')

Basically,, it's following the whole "mermaid (Gillion in this case) is on land for the first time, pirates (Chip and Jay) have to get him clothes and stuff to fit in as much as possible,, tritons are canonically as a species very fluid in their gender identities and expression of their gender, so he picks out a gnc (gender non confirming) outfit! ((As gender non confirming as I can make while running on two hours of sleep))

soft chaos ensues, Chip and Jay have light hearted banter near the end :D they're all soft.

TW// very minor description of the start of overstimulation? resolved pretty quickly though!! still be safe <3 (If there are any more please tell me! ^^)

A lot had happened already. Chip, found himself being woken up to his newest (and only) crew member screaming for him to "get his ass up on deck". This on its own was bizarre, considering Chip was still adjusting to having someone else on the ship, let alone having them call for him to wake up at an ungodly hour. Yet here he was. He decided the quicker he dealt with whatever Jay needed, the sooner he'd be able to go back to bed, so he fought the urge to stay where he was and made his way tiredly to the top deck. He saw Jay save herself barely from toppling over the side of the ship from leaning over, looking at something as well as...yelling at it? Maybe Chip should've left her at the tavern. Maybe she wasn't cut out for a life on the sea. Not even a week in and she'd already lost her mind...

"Chip! Jesus Christ, come here! Quickly!" The slight urgency in Jay's voice broke Chip out of his thinking, slowly walking over to the desperate redhead.

"Okay, okay. What is it. What, you see a fancy fish or somethi- hooooly shit. Uh- as ironic as this is...wasn't expecting a fish dude." Chip's sarcastic remark was interrupted by his own reaction to what Jay had shown him. More or less next to the ship, floating aimlessly and silently, a triton. They wore strange clothing, though Chip figured he wouldn't start off with that as a descriptor. It was probably normal attire for them. Both Jay and Chip shared a curious look before the brunette got nudged by Jay's sharp elbow, gesturing for him to say something to the floating triton. "Wh- why me?! Ugh whatever, okay okay..." Chip trailed off, leaning over the railing slightly before speaking out to the stranger, "Hey! Hey buddy, you okay there? Y'hurt or anything?"

If he was honest, Chip didn't expect much based on the look in the triton's eyes alone. He was all too familiar with that expression. Dull, seemingly emotionless eyes. Expressionless face. This... guy? They weren't doing too hot. However, to his surprise, the stranger answered his question, seeing him look up at the two before speaking out, their voice sounding hoarse and broken.

"N-no...No I am unharmed...If I am floating too close to your..." they looked the ship over silently, curiosity showing as they examined the masts and sails, "y-your vessel. I am more than happy to move. You may be on your way..."

This time, it was Jay who spoke up, causing both Chip and the blue-skinned stranger to look at her. "H-hey...Y'know there's more than enough room for one more on here...doesn't look like you're going anywhere in a rush. Maybe we can drop you off somewhere!" Chip's curious look quickly turned into one of shock. Jay simply sent a quick glare in his direction, leaning in and whispering, "You let me on your ship to help me, right? They definitely need some help. C'mon, don't be such a bastard-" Chip interrupted Jay's words, turning and looking down, offering a large grin, grabbing the rope nearby the railings of the ship, tossing it over before holding out his hand.
